Derbyhouse have them in and they look a great shape for my mare but they don't actually say they are waterproof anywhere! Their own website says water resistant. Surely at that price that can't be right?!

I don't think ANY rug is totally waterproof.

Anyway - I don't have one of their rugs, but I do have their waterresistant jacket - which was 100% waterproof in torrential rain (and better than the Barbour equivalent, just not as nice to wear!)

don't have a turnout rug but did have a pair of horze brushing boots. they were really flimsy and the velcro ripped off before long and they are irrepairable, they are made of a strange material. i wouldn't buy anything from horze again.

It says on their website that the outershell on the turnout is made of 600D Rip stop Polyester. This suggests it will be more 'showerproof' in reality, than decently waterproof in heavy rain. TBH you need to be looking for a rug with a 1200D+ outer shell if you're looking for decent protection in persistent rain. 600D would be fine for short periods of turnout in light rain or showery weather though. Just depends what you're looking for in your new rug :)
