looking at a 4litre discovery thats lpg converted to lpg. just wondered if anyone could explain the fuel economy to me please.

thanks a lot

Make sure you check how many garages have LPG round you - it would be a PITA for me - there's one closeish, but it's not really on my way to anywhere at the moment, so I'd have to deliberately go to get fuel, which is annoying enough when it's only a 3 minute detour.

Yes, I have a 4 litre discovery that is converted to lpg.

I have 2 40 litre lpg tanks underneath and still retain a full sized petrol tank.

A full tank of lpg will do me between 200 to 220 miles. I worked it out that my car does 17 miles to the gallon.

So as lpg is approximately half the price of petrol, it means my discovery costs the equivalent of approx. 35 miles to the gallon to run. Does that help?

As wishful says check how many local garages supply lpg, believe me not many do. I have to go specifically to fill mine up. Even on the motorway etc you would be suprised how many don't have it.

Rebember gas has less energy value than petrol which has less than diesel liter for liter!!! very roughly for instance = if you get 15 mpg on gas, petrol will do 20 mpg, deisel 30mpg ,
some conversions are better than others if its a multi point injection it will be better than
the crude single inlet feed type you can tell if its a good conversion by how it drives some stall, run rough or surge take it for a good long run from cold to see if its ok..it also needs to have a certified conversion for the insurance and check you can get insurance some companys wont insure them or load the premium...
