Does anyone have a Thorowgood T6 Dressage saddle?

Hi,

I really need a dressage saddle for schooling in, but just cannot at the moment (or really for at least a year) afford a leather one.

I have heard good things about this one, but I wondered what everyone thought?

I currently have a Kent and Masters GP, so I know the basic style suits my horse as K&M are part of Thorowgood.

Has anyone ridden in one? Has one? Can recommend one? (or not?)

I have the leather version and love it (have the synthetic GP one and really like that too). It's not a deep seat like the Wintec Isabella but horse goes great in it.

Hey thanks,

Is the leather version the Kent and Masters one?

As I have the gp Kent and Masters and I have now been put off the Thorowgood synthetic one (my instructor wasn't keen, but then she has neve seen one i don't think) and am possibly going to get the Kent and Masters Dressage one, so is that the one you mean? If so what is that like? When you say it's not a deep seat, it is a bit deep... Do you think it has changed your position round a bit, as your able to sit up a bit more with your leg underneath you (if you know what I mean?!)

Thanks

Hi - I have a T6 GP and love it. Friend at the yard has bought the dressage one for her horse, and I tried it on mine before deciding to buy the GP (I do quite a bit of jumping as well, or I would have gone for the dressage).
Both are really comfy and fit my horse brilliantly.
My friend has had a bit of bother with hers slipping forward, but her horse is a rescue and his shape has been changing dramatically since she took him on, so saddler thinks that could be the reason, and she will change the gullet for her. Hopefully this will resolve it.
For the price, I think it is a really great option.

I have a thorowgood dressage saddle; it's a high wither version, but not sure if its T6 or not. Here's a pic:

I like it well enough; puts me in a decent position. I'd prefer leather, and I find the seat a little on the hard side, but for the price of them, I can't complain.

Nutkin - yours is a T4 version as it has the 'suede ' parts.

I have the T6 GP version and you genuinly could not tell it wasn't leather from even a couple of feet away. Even after touching it it stills feels very like leather.

The K&M saddles are exactly the same as the thorowgood saddles (they are the same company after all!) as if one fits, the other will.

Hi,

Thanks guys, thanks for the pic too. I have bitten the bullet and have gone for the Kent and Masters Dressage one, so looking forward to the saddler coming for that one! There is also another one at my yard (ainsley or something) which I need to see if fits also...

Not having had a dressage saddle before quite excited to see if it fits and what it rides like - hopefully comfortable.
