And.... If so what are yours like??
I have a one (x warmblood) and she is such a monkey! A dream to handle, never has her ears back, trust her and thus allows non (yet) horsey boyfriend handle her, though she can be v- stressy! But can be quite different to ride, er spooky, crafty and a madam who likes to test you on a second by second basis... LOL
Just bored and wondered who else rides them!x

me- she's a full section D and is my little star, a fab chestnut mare (and a 14.2hh pony to match!) she's fun, fast, head strong and we fit together perfectly! She's currently having some time off while her baby grows etc but bring on march!!

I used to have a section "D" 30 something years ago (showing my age) and he was fantastic, If and I say If he wanted he could do anything ! He could jump, hunt, pony club, hack, just anything but if he decided he wasn't going play then that was it, he actually taught me loads & loads of stuff, he had the most amazing character and I can remember crying into his neck when I had the teenage blues and he'd be the perfect best friend........Oh for thoses days again...... I love welshies

i have one!! full sec D , he has a wonderful nature and has quite a character, he is like a beach donkey in the school, unless he gets a spook on, when everything is scary, and he prances and snorts his way around!! at dressage we do lovly work in the warm up, only to revert to pretending he hasn't even been broken during the test!!, but he is a gentleman and such a nice boy to handle he is nice to hack, although can have a "moment" at times! but he keeps me on my toes amd i love him to bits, although i have thought about selling him, i don't think i will as i would never find something as good or as genuine as him second time around.

That is my Sec D all over! He's out on loan now but everything was always on his terms...if he put his mind to it he could do anything he wanted! The last competition we did was a 2ft9/3ft pairs HT at Wellington EC (and we did ok!), but equally he would happily pretend he'd never been taught to jump. Great fun to hunt but could be stubborn as a mule, hated schooling! He's now doing really well showing locally with his loaners and they're aiming for County level with him next year.

He was such a character, never known a horse with so much personality!

I have one late 20's and he is bombproof, but he's a handful, if anyone ever comes to ride and I want to know if they can I put them on him as he can tell within 5 minutes. We have had to retire him from funrides etc as he has one pace, flat out. I have only hunted him once when he was late teens, never again I had no control, steering or brakes.

I have one - George. He's full section D. He's sweet, cheeky, kind, attention-seeking, fun, fast and pony-like (even though he's 15hh). We had a section d mare until July. She was palomino and was just about the most beautiful horse I've ever looked after, ridden, known or seen.

Ditto the others really...mine is a full Welsh D and I would not swap him for the world. He is my best friend and has the most amaing character..full of naughtiness!
He is brill to ride but can turn in seconds into a raging drama queen with his knickers in a twist over something that he is frightened by. He is the perfect plod most of the time at home but away from home or in situations new to him he is sharp, spooky, powerful and deffinately not for the faint hearted.

I have a 14.1h chestnut Sec D, and mine is exactly like Pottamus'!!
Doesn't bat an eyelid at the jets going over at god knows what mile an hour and so low you can see the pilot; but a van with a plastic container on the back.......well its a killer!

Section D's rule!!

I have a 6yr old and he is just fab, we've been at our current yard for just over a year now and since moving there we've been focusing on our dressage. At times he is like a moody teenager, who ignores leg aids, runs through the bridle and need pointing directly towards the wall if you want to stop!

But when he puts his mind to it, he is an absolute star, capable of most lateral work, jumps like a star despite me being onboard, hacks anywhere. I have always found D's are great characters, they're wonderful movers, proper all-rounders. I wouldn't swap mine for the world!

Me me me! Got an 8 year old black Sec D mare. Ditto all the above comments really - she can be an angel or a nightmare, does things mostly on her own terms but shows occasional brilliance.

She is my best friend, quirky and affectionate, and I'd never have any other breed now. They really are jacks of all trades.

i've got one! He's 15.2 and 9 yrs old. He can be a laid back plod one minute then he decides to jog everywhere. He is really brave when theres a lorry on his tail and he doesn't flinch, but a leaf blowing towards him turns him into a blubbering wreck. He can hold a grudge for days if you upset him, super spooky when he wants, pig headed at times, but he's the best horse iv'e ever had, and i wouldn't swop him for the world.

i had a welsh cob x and he was an angel. i oculdnt have asked for a better confidence giver. he was one in a million and had such character.!

I've had my Welsh D for 12 years and he really is the horse of a lifetime.

He is such a strong personality, cheeky, intelligent, always has his opinion, but has the biggest heart and will try his best for you in everything he does.

He has a huge jump, can drive, great hacking out (after the first two years anyway

) and has even learnt to do dressage in his late teens.

As someone else mentioned I have had to give up the fun rides as he's 20 now and still thinks the only pace they can be done in is flat out gallop

All these descriptions sound just like my friends Section D gelding. A total charcter but can be a big wimp when he wants to be!! really sensitive about changes in routine & loves dinner time, but is totally full of character and adorable!!!

I've got a 3 year old Sect D filly, chestnut with four whites and a blaze and a mind of her own too! She's so affectionate though and licks my face, neck, hands... She's reasonably cooperative but if she doesn't want to move, she'll plant and give you a certain look, quirky girl!

i've got 2.

old boy is 22 now and just goes on the odd hack due to various ligament issues. in his day he was a superstar though - he got 81 BD points, 4th at the area festival finals, regionals every year etc. He was utterly dependable on in the dressage arena. Jumping was another matter - he could be flying then take offence and ditch you at the next one. On the ground, he's a bargy, opinionated little monster, but he is absolutely my ideal horse. I have a room full of rossies and trophies and fantastic piccies - I miss riding him all the time - he was a complete show off and came alive in the arena.

New one is 6yrs old - completely loves XC, but cant get him over a pole. Works lovely at home, but behaves like the world is about to end when you get him in the white boards. He has amazing paces and could make a super dressage horse if he'd get over his worries. He is seriously testing my patience and have thought about selling him, but gonna give him a bit more time (had him 7mths). Might just keep him to hunt and XC and just buy another one for dressage though as he is so much fun to hack/hunt.

I have a 9yo Welsh D 15hh dun mare and she's fantastic. Lovely temperament, fab with my kids, lovely to do in all ways. Can be a bit lazy in the school, but comes to life out on sponsored/fun rides! She makes me feel very safe. I've just started doing IH with her with an IHRA and it's really helping us both.

I love her to bits!

I had one as my first pony. She was a bit poor when I bought her and was a total saint, but once I'd got her in better condition and fed her up and got her fit she was a nightmare! VERY sparky, stressy, but bags of fun if the rider had the confidence. NOT a first pony IMO and I would never have one again (I can sometimes be nervous and she ruined my confidence completely - I was a nervous wreck riding for about two years after I'd sold her!)
She was stunningly pretty though - chestnut with four white socks and a huge white face, and a flaxen mane and tail. She was convinced she was a pure arab and used to float round the field with her tail over her back

I've got 2

The older mare is or has been very spooky most of her life (dare I say it? She hasn't been too bad this year!!!)

But I always reckon she's good in a crisis!

She adores jumping and hunting, in fact anything that involves going fast. Though tries her best on the flat although her conformation isn't exactly made for it.

She's rarely strong, nor takes off with me and if I cack myself at a large jump, she just takes over and does it.

She has a large repertoire of facial expressions, from smile to pissed off!

My 3yr old is a bit stroppy, but eager to please. The same as Rosie was at her age.
