Boys are very full of themselves - Stinker has a chain under his jaw - he dragged poor old David when coming in Friday evening big time. I went out and bought a choke chain and he had a few lesson in life from me Sunday, and is now very well behaved again.

Cairo now has a secret anti-stinker weapon - a tailbag. When Stinker is being a pest Mr C gives him one hell of a slap with it - we are changing his name to Stegasorus.

Cairo is amazing at the moment - so full of stamina - something in that SS diet really agrees with him. Even started schooling him again once a week and he is really enjoying it.

Have to come over again when it is nicer and have a heavy horse race again - before the ground gets hard and Mr C is confined to only a slow trot.
 
I use a waterford gag type bit with a leather chin strap attached to the top ring where the cheek straps connect for xc as my boy tends to put his head down, fixes his neck and off he goes. The chin strap really helps as my boy hates bits with curb chains etc, may be worth a try if you can't afford a new bit. It just gives me that bit extra and stops him putting his head down.
 
He tends to chuck his head up in a gag!
I may just try a normal or jointed pelham.
