I can't get hold of him for the third day in a row his number is just coming up unavailable. :-( I'm worried that he's given up but hoping he's just on holiday as I really don't want to use anyone else. So was just wondering if anyone knew him....unfortunately I only know his first name(I know I know), his name is Colin, he drives a blue VW T5 and has an apprentice with him......

Please no rants at me about this post - I have explained my situation in earlier posts and yes I should've booked him last time he was out.

TBH even if you had booked him last time out, you might still have been in the same position. We used to have a fabulous farrier who also shod a string of racehorses. When the trainer moved from West to North Yorks, farrier moved as well. For a while he came back a few days a month but this gradually fizzled out and we were left high & dry. You have my sympathy although I'm sorry I can't help.

Thanks

I wouldn't mind if he had moved a bit further North TBH as I've moving the girls up to the North Dales and would love to take him with me!! Just wish I could get hold of him.

have you tried popping your post code into the frc website to see if you can track him down that way? and who ever pops up as near to you you could ring them and ask if they know a Colin. Dont worry about knowing his surname i dont think many of my clients do

Yeah I've tried that and also the local trade directories - can't find him anywhere - trouble is I don't know where he lives so it might not come up with my postcode...

I also get the impression that most of the Farriers around here don't get on too so not sure if anyone would help me. I can try though, thanks.

TheFarrier I have a question for you - if you were to 'give it up', go out of business or move area etc, would you let your clients know or would you let them find out for themselves?

I am moving area and i am telling all my clients (except those that dont book in - those i am ringing) in person as i go about my rounds shutting up shop. I am going armed with telephone numbers of decent farriers that cover my areas for my clients to try.

does that help?

I hope so, I'm sure he would've informed us if he wasn't going to be available....just hope he's OK.

I hope so, maybe he just changed his number? I would say ask the others they will probably at least know his surname.

I dont suppose you have his apprentices name or number?

I know about 6 farriers that are North/West Yorkshire so I could ask them if they 'know' of a Colin!

That would be great, thanks. Am just off to the local tack shop so I will ask after him there.

No prob! Have one coming to yard tonight actually but he is not a Colin!! Wil ask him! Roughly what area are you? Town name might just help a little. PM if you prefer.
