Hi guys,
I'm looking at Kronch for dogs and wondered if anyone on here has used or heard anything about them at all.

I'm looking at it to help keep weight on active working dogs.

Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks

Never heard of them but their website is somewhat contradictory -eg;-
"With hypo-allergenic wild Salmon and no intestines, no soya, no artificial additives, colourings or flavourings, you can rely on Kronch to keep your dog incredibly healthy - naturally.

All APF products are made using fresh Salmon and are hypo-allergenic. Therefore they contain no 'offending' ingredients that are known to irritate animals with sensitive digestions.

***NO Artificial Additives, NO Colourings, NO Artificial Preservatives, NO Flavourings***"

And then -
"Kronch Pemmikan consists of as much as 58.5% fat, salmon, fishmeal, barley, corn, brewers yeast and numerous vitamins and minerals. It is a very powerful calorie bar, that contains approximately 6000 k. call. per kilo or 2400 k. call. per bar."
Many dogs are intolerant to barley and / or corn.
It looks ok if your dog doesn't react but if you are just wanting a top up to hold weight how about traditional dried meat?

thanks guys, it was the barley that jumped out at me too, I did wonder if some dogs may react to that and I must admit I didn't pick up on the fat content!!!!!

It was some other gundog trainers that suggested it - they use it to keep weight on turbo charged ESS's towards the end of the season so thought I'd ask on here.
I've tried everything I can think of. They're really healthy, happy dogs but they never, never stop running and we're talking Welsh hills here. I'm sure all ESS workers do this.
Whatever I've tried just makes them even faster but not put weight on.
The dried meat is a good suggestion but didn't work I'm afraid.

Think I'll give the Kronch a miss.

Turbo charged springers?! No thanks!

Love green tripe:

Moisture 71%
Crude Fat 11.7%
Protein 15%
Ash 1.23%
Phosphorus .14%
Calcium .12%
Calories 756/lb
pH 6.12
Lactic Acid Bacteria 12,000 CFU/g
Linoleic Acid 2.72%

Where's East Kent to back me up?! Chicken carcasses. Brilliant and packed full of natural glucosamine/chondritin.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Think I may have to give green tripe a try - I have avoided that until now as the idea brings back memories of my mum trying to get me to eat tripe when I was growing up and it making me heave - ick!!

I thought the Pemmikan bar was a doggy equivalent of a kendal mint cake.

I've used the Kronch salmon oil & looked at the food in the past but it seemed a bit pricey for ingredients so went with fish 4 dogs instead.

Sorry for the late reply and the confusion. The 58% fat is a pemmican bar and not a feed designed to feed huskies on long runs up to six weeks in the harshest enviroments. We only get half a sled to pack feed for all the dogs whilst they are away. It is used on gun dogs to give one square at lunch time which is the equivilent of six hours food and keeps them warm, working and prevents Hypoglycemia.
The foods are 24% protein 16% fat, 21% protein and 13% fat and fresh salmon based.
