I have been looking for a large horse for what seems like forever.

The horse needs to carry 14stone and not look like a shetland pony under my partner who is 6ft1. Ex-hunters, retired eventers, treated injuries/lameness....we are not bothered. We have a stable available at a well equiped PRIVATE yard in Northumberland which can of course, be vetted. We have large stables, horse walker, full time stable supervisor, lots of grazing, winter turn out etc etc) For the right horse, we will consider a loan to buy. I am an experienced rider, my partner is a very confident novice that is coming on fast. We need something that can walk (obviously) trot and canter. My partner would like to jump and xc but this is not essential for the time being. No rodeo horses!! I prefere my backside to stay in the saddle.

Dedicated home waiting....

ps. I have tried EVERYTHING. vets, the local hunts, internet, riding schools, ads papers, tack shops....

Thanks everyone so far!

Yes, I have tried my other half on 15.3-16.3hh stocky horses but he still looks seriously underhorsed. He wants what he wants and thats a large, leggy cleveland/honovarian type. It's all fun and games

Florence, I have had a look at your ad and it is very vague, try another one and give details of exactly what you want, what the yard is like and the competance of the rider. Emphasise how lovely the new home would be and offer for it to be vetted!! Everyone wants their horse to go to a 5* home.

Sometimes it is just the look of the draw! Feel free to get in touch with the people that have responded to my thread.

A friend has a gorgeous 17hh+ 6 year old gelding avaliable for loan. However he has not done a lot for his age and my feeling is he would need a period of time with a more experienced rider (at least hacking out) before a novice rode him. I think he would be fine in the school with a novice under supervision though as he can be easily ridden in a rope halter (my friend is into NH). He is very well bred as a show jumper and very nicely put together. If you are interested and want to PM me I can send some pics. He is bright chestnut, 4 stockings and a blaze so pretty flashy.

He is currently in Hungary but she would bring his to the UK for the right person!
