My boss won it about 4 years ago its like the charge of the light brigade, you need to try to get up front so your not near the fallers or ones that land on top of a hedge. You will need him ultra fit and have stamina to stay ( I cant actually remember the distance)
I did alot of canter work with the horse up hills. His horse was a real stayer very sharpe and fast at first then just went in a nice rythem and kept going and going when all the others were knackered. I always say i must of done somthing right because he had never won it before and has never won it since, go for it girl.
It's in the Cottesmore country near Owston and Knossington over some pretty substantial hedges but not as big as the ones three years ago, some of which were huge:
You also don't need to win it (which will be very hard with the usual suspects at the front on pure TBs who prepare for the Melton, Golden Button and Harborough very seriously! You can take it steadily and enjoy yourself - lots of people do. The Harborough even has a fun ride which follows the race over the same fences at a more sanity-preserving pace.
