http://www.gothersleystables.co.uk/ Hi - am new to this, I am looking for a yard and have been pointed in the direction of Gothersley stables in stourbridge, i just dont want to end up on a yard full of ragwort or alienated because im not into competing heavily as yet

A friend said the best place to ask was on here and so ....here i am!

Yep, I'm not far away. It does look nice, hopefully someone on here will know it :)
I have a few Qs too, the most recent being how easy is it to get to at the moment with all the snow!!

I do...very well... PM me for more info or any questions you may have. Could also put you in touch with others who would back up my opinion!

hi,

I had a loan with view to buy horse at Gothersley a few years ago - loan didn't work out so I wasn't there long but from what I remember the yard was fairly decent. The off road hacking was one of the best things I remember about it, the indoor school was fairly small (but adequate) and there was an outdoor sand school.

The only criticism that I can think of is that at the time they had a policy of rotating horses so horses would frequently find themselves with a new group of fieldmates - lead to a few minor injuries amongst the horses that I know to - as I said though this was a few years ago so that policy may have changed and the facilities may be different.

cant say that I've heard anything bad about the yard though

hope that helps!

Have just read PM, have got to run out to work in a few mins so will reply fully later as have quite a bit to say. To answer above question, sadly the horses are still rotated regularly and herds change all the time, whick annoyed me immensley. Both of mine sustained nasty kicks because of this, one had 4 weeks box rest after a kick to stifle and the other was in for 2 weeks and colicked afterwards as the other horse got her right over last rib. I know kicks can occur at anytime, even with horses who have been in together for years but both of these happened just after the herds had been mixed again and they were in with a new horse. My 2 get on with pretty much anything so i do put it down to the rotation of the horses so regularly.

The main thing I have heard about them too is the herd rotations, seems to be the first thing someone would mention when describing it to another, but thats second hand haven't necessarily heard anything else bad about it.
