I was wondering if anyone could tell me how i can track down the paint my lorry is painted in as i have been coming up blanks when trying to locate some.

The make and code of paint is RAL 3004 apparantley it is paint that is supplied to trade only hence why i am having problems getting it i need some for a touch up i would be grateful for any amount or if anyone can tell me how to get this make of paint.

It is driving me mad i must have phoned ten million places with no luck.

I believe RAL is a make of paint and that 3004 is a purple/red colour. You should be able to get this specially mixed for you at any trade paint centre. Just tell them what you want to use it for. Trade centres do not usually hold any colour stock, the computerised system simply mixes them perfectly for each order. All red/purple paints oxidise over time and generally lighten slightly. Therefore, even though mixed perfectly, there may well be a noticeable colour difference between new and old paints if your lorry is a few years old. Therefore, if you just need to cover stone chips etc, get the closest touch-up paint you can (from Halfords or somewhere of that ilk) and cut it in with some T-Cut (once it's dried for 48 hrs). For anything larger you will need to assess the pros and cons.

Hope this is of some help,

FP

RAL refers to the exact colour of the paint.

As Flashpaddler says above, colours fade in time.

However, go to any good auto paint suppliers & they can mix you up the exact number colour to RAL 3004.
However, if you took something in with the paint on (like a mirror or handle that might have faded) and also give them the RAL number, a really good paint shop will try to match the existing colour you have. (if you see what I mean?)

Good luck :)

Try 'Avenue Paints', they are in Colnbrook, Slough (berkshire) Thats where I got my lorry paint, very good value too!! Google or pm me for number.

Hi thanks for all the advice i was having problems because i was told the colour i was trying to get was a colour made with a lead based paint that was only supplied to trade.

I have been to normal car paint shops even took a sample of the paint as i have a small amount and was told because of eu regulations this type of one coat paint is harder to get my lorry isnt that old but the person who painted used an old morgan colour they had seen and liked to paint it that is no longer used.

I will try all your suggestions and hopefully get some to match many thanks.:)
