Im currently looking for a livery yard to move my horse to from yorkshire, does anyone know of a nice reasonably priced livery yard within 20 - 25 mins from glasgow's westend? Im really desperate to find somewhere so i can move my horse in august after my wedding.
Thanks

I don't know any of them personally but there are loads. It really depends on your requirements. I think Ingliston will be top of the market tho! It very much depends on your price range and requirements! There is everything from very basic DIY to total luxury livery and everything inbetween. You will need to go and look at places to find out what will suit your requirements best. Look on yell.com (search for stables in lanarkshire and use the map view) and also the BHS website for the approved establishments.

Beware though - a lady moved from yorkshire to the last yard I was at and she went positively green at the livery rates here (edinburgh area) compared to where she had been!!

There are quite a few, as someone else said it depends what you are looking for. To give you a few names to start with : Hazelden, Ingliston, Easterton, Kenmure, Tannoch and then there are loads of smaller ones without websites. You could try contacting Derby House in Glasgow for any phone numbers they have on their advert board. Good luck

thank you ... im looking for somewhere small-ish and friendly as we are on a yard of 18 at the moment and its about right ... we only pay 65 a week full livery and i don't expect to get anything like that up here from what i can gather...
Assisted livery may be best for us but i really don't want to be on a yard that charges for every time they change a rug or put in a feed its ridiculous id rather it was included.
I need to find somewhere within a 20 min drive to save on petrol because it is going to add up pretty quickly and if a yard is really close and the petrol and paying for full livery is cheaper than a yard really far away and diy then i would go for that. We are also considering half loaning george out like we do at home to help cover the cost.
Im not looking for a big competition yard as we are very chilled out but enjoy hacking out and jumping.

Ive heard of the big yards like Ingliston im really trying to find information on the smaller yards that maybe dont have websites.

Try preloved .. put an ad on it, but register your address as Glasgow, as search will pick up on nearest.
Yell.com
Ad trader
Equi ads have loads of Scottish sites (its free paper)
Gumtree has Glasgow as a city location

A forum member on here who keeps her horse at INGILSTON posted the other week saying that all the livery owners got 1 weeks notice to leave.

if she sees this im sure she will post on it .

I think midGavin might gave space as a friend moved her two to Ayrshire. think hazelden is full atm but you could try easterton, fordbank, wardhouse, gryffside (sp)

OK scrap Ingliston, I think you need to leave your horse down south and when you have a house in Glasgow then start to look, you could be living on one side and have poor transport links to your yard, also no one can say what will be available next month, never mind August.

Wow!! £65 a week for full livery?!!! I'd be surprised if you found anywhere doing full livery for less than £100 per week!! I know yards where total DIY is £50!!! BEst of luck in finding somewhere suitable!!

i know we are so lucky and with me being at uni it really is full livery they have been 5* even been up with him at 3 am when he has been ill recently with colic and organized vets appointments i really wish i didn't have to move him but i cant have a horse 400 miles away

i already have a house up here ive lived here a year been waiting for right time to move him we are west end so i need to be 20 mins from west end
