Does anyone know the sugar content of D&H High Fibre Nuts?

I feed them, they love them, I can't remember if they definitely don't have molasses but can look on the bag for you later if you don't find out before!

Thank you. Think ill just get some. They're only to add a crunch to his feed so no more than a handful per day. That wont make that much difference will it?

He's not lami prone, just been very fat in the past! x

My haffy has ribs currently, slightly visible ribs! I have actually started adding a drop of oil to her feed and piling up the hay! Madness I tell you! She has them with timothy hay chop, and I use them all the time for treats needed when practising not kicking me during feet picking out, and other such training tasks, she definitely appreciates them as sweeties but I did agonise over the content of different brands in a huge feed shop for a while, I think they are basically like fast fibre but you can feed them as they are, so would recommend!

I've just looked at my bag of Spillers High Fibre Cubes, which are Laminitis Trust approved, and they don't list molasses as an ingredient and don't give a sugar content. The starch content is given as 10%. I give them to my lami-prone pony in his decahedron and he loves them. Have been using them for a long time now with no problems - but he only has a few handfuls per day. I know that's not the product you were asking about, but thought it might be of help!

There you go! So yes, there is molasses but only a bit I think :-)

Me too! My haffy looks very ribby. Weight taped at 360KG today! so I've added more hay am and pm and split his evening feed in to am and pm and added some nuts!

Glad i'm not the only one upping a good doers/Haffies feed as he looks a little poor! xx

I know! She is the same on the tape but has definitely lost more, I'm not sure what to expect come spring really as I've only had her since October, she was very round when she came here but I have no idea how much to expect her to gain. I am pretty sure she is not as good a doer as some haffies as I have at least been feeding chaff the whole time. Tempted to get some linseed again as little pony has dry skin and it helped the haffies skin lots and she was looking great when having that, but then she probably cant have it in summer due to calories! Dilemmas eh! I think its just that the grass has thoroughly lost its nutritional value now, bring the sun!

Do Haffy's actually have ribs!!!! After 5 years with mine I've come to the conclusion he's rib free, there just aren't any ;)

The lack of info on the bags of all D&H and Bailey's products is why I opted for Spiller's high fibre cubes when in the shop the other day.

I use these, they do contain small amount of molasses (don't quote me but I think it's 4%) but the received wisdom is that they are pretty "safe" as a base for sensitive horses...
