A couple of weeks ago I too was curious to know if Grasshoppers was running next year and ended up having a long email exchange with the MD of Equine Affairs.
In a nutshell, it seems BE have rejected Equine Affairs sponsorship for 2009 as they have 'bigger and better' sponsors, I believe BE are planning to relaunch and rebrand it. So wait and see.
Equine Affairs understandably are a little shocked at such an abrupt termination of their involvement. My daughter did GH very successfully in 2007 and had a wonderful time, the events were well organised with brilliant prizes at the Champs. The EQ staff were all lovely and very helpful. BE seem to be getting appalling press at the moment and this sort of treatment of their sponsors, whatever their size, won't help. I know EQ wish to go on assisting amateurs and grassroots riders so I hope they find another vehicle to give their support to us.
See the question to BE on their website about their 'New' Jump to It series. It is basically the Grasshoppers competition renamed...... Change for changes sake it would appear like the new class names.
