Some jumping saddles only have 2 billets set further back, rather than the 'norm' of 3? Interested as just got one like this!

I think they're farther back on the tree to allow a stud girth to sit better. Although it may be a bit of a visual illusion becuase of the forward cut panels. Why 2 straps and not 3? I can only assume to let the panel sit better with less bulk underneath it so you are in closer contact with the horse - but I'm not sure on that one.

Usually this is only seen on monoflap saddles, and is to reduce the bulk to give a closer contact.
