My five month old doberman puppy has a deep pink lump just under his eye, it doesn't seem to be getting any bigger, but doesn't look very nice, the vet gave me some cream to stop him fromm scratching it, has anyone else had or heard of this and will it go on it's own?

Sounds like Cherry eye, quite common in Dobs..

You can google it, mostly surgery is required, it is quite a simple procedure and safe.

Quite common in a few breeds apparently but surgery easily sorts it.

surprised that it is so common in a wide range of breeds...

Yes my first thought was histeocytoma too. This is the most common tumour/growth in young dogs, sometimes called a strawberry tumour as it gets so red. They are benign and sometimes spontaneously resolve but if still present 4-6wks later I would get it removed as they cause irritation and soreness to the dog.
Cherry eye is different its a prolapse of one of the tear glands from behind the 3rd eyelid and looks like a little red blob in the corner of the eye itself. It can either be removed or replaced and sutured back under the 3rd eyelid.
Any chance you could post a piccie of the lump so its clearer which it is?

This is not cherry eye, looks very much like histiocytoma..

Found this...

Histiocytoma. Histiocytoma is primarily a tumor of young growing dogs. Histiocytoma has a characteristic clinical appearance in the dog—it is always raised, less than 1 cm in diameter, pink in color, hairless, and has a characteristic rapid growth pattern (Figure 7). Histiocytoma frequently regresses spontaneously between 3 and 5 weeks after it appears.

I don't have personal experience of it, but according to that website it may regress on it's own. Vet will I'm sure guide you, if there is a chance it will regress on it's own I would certainly leave it and see, but your vet would be best to advise. Good luck, lovely dog by the way..
