I have a 14hh p7 year old welsh section d bright bay gelding who is gorgeous (I will attach a photo) my friend has a 21year old coloured 14.1hh pony. Ok so apparently my friends pony used to go to Olympia and did 1m 30 tracks. People who know my friends pony came to see mine, looked at him and went on about how beautiful and amazing my friends pony is. I felt kinda irritated, as they just met my dream pony and went on about my friends pony?... My friends pony isn't even HERS it's LOANED, is there something ugly about my pony I should know about?? This isn't the first time this has happened... do I need to make my pony event like hers used to do for people to appreciate his beauty? My friend started loaning her pony at the same time I got my pony -2months ago. Her pony has artheritis and tendon problems, nothing wrong with my pony... my friend is 3 years younger than me, and she is going on about how her and her pony are ready to jump 1m + courses, whilst I am training my 7 year old welsh, and jumping 70/80cm. If I event will they like my pony?? I would do anything for my pony I love him to the moon. https://instagram.com/p/BJlff_AhefU/

This is all that matters. You have so many years ahead with him - focus om making him the best he can be and yourself the best rider you can be. Nothing and no one else matters. Enjoy him.

And yes he is beautiful.

Oh wow! I actually really really like your pony! I clicked your link expecting to try and make you feel a bit better but in reality he's gorgeous!
When I was young, a long time ago I had a coloured. About the same size and build as yours. Back then coloureds weren't so popular so everyone preferred my friends bays or chestnuts and I used to feel really gutted by it as I knew how lovely my little horse was. So I do understand how you feel.
Don't take it to heart. You are very lucky to have such a stunning little horse xx

Your pony is stunning! But everybody has different tastes in everything, that's life, I don't take offence when people come to see my coloured cobs and say how stunning my friends friesan is, he I stunning but I wouldn't swap my cheap ex gypsy broodmare for all the tea in china

He's a stunning boy and the time you take now to bond and train him will give you many years of fun with him. Don't try and compare your pony to others or allow yourself to be bothered by people that do - he's perfect for you and that is all that matters.

He is lovely! But don't ever do something because you think that will make people like him/you more. They might be impressed if you event him, but on the yard they will still coo over another horse that, to them, is pretty/stunning etc. We have all lived at some point in the shadow of a prettier friend/horse, or appreciated a horse that is a real head-turner. That doesn't mean that people like yours any less. If you want to event, then do it. But do it because YOU want to, not because you want to be more popular. Stay yourself and the people who like you for you will still be there.

He is lovely, but I remember you posting something similar, again with the IG link.. looking for more followers? lol

You need to have the confidence to enjoy your own pony, and do the things with him that will make you happy. It's natural to compare, but part of the process of growing up is to learn that that's largely fruitless- your own happiness is the only measure that matters. Be happy for your friend because they have a nice pony, be happy for yourself because ditto, and measure your happiness by how your pony makes you feel, not by what others say :)

This is very nicely put :)

Your pony is lovely, and as long as you love it and your pony makes you happy it doesn't matter what others thinks. I'm sure others think your pony is lovely too, people might be impressed by your friends ponies past, but how do you know that isn't your ponies future??

You shouldn't do something with your pony because you think it'll make you or your pony more popular. Only do things YOU want to do, if you don't want to event right now then don't, make you will later in life.. So what if your friend *says* she is jumping 1m tracks?? Remember - the size of the fences don't matter, if you and your pony are taking it slowly and learning how to jump PROPERLY then that's what matters.

Everyone likes different things - don't compare yourself to your friend and try and do what they do. Set your own goals and do the things you want.

Well I think he's lovely but I adore welshies anyway!

If you and your pony have fun and he thinks that you're a pretty cool human to hang out with, then it truly doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Just enjoy him. :) Once you've got a welshie on your side you've a friend for life. :)

You're amazingly lucky to have a pony (bought/kept for you?). Others may be jealous, they may not.

Try accepting the compliments graciously without worrying if others get them too. Have a thought for kids with no pony, loaned or otherwise, when you're annoying your lovely one :-)

This is what matters. I can't see your photos but I'm sure there's nothing wrong with your pony at all. Maybe your friend is a bit more outgoing than you and can engage your friends in a better way, talking him up about all his past experiences and how he was ridden by Lucinda Green or something. What YOU see in your pony is the most important.

My horse has a big white face, some people say they don't like big white faces and instantly dismiss her as ugly. Those people are dead to me.

He is georgeous.

At the end of the day, you think he is amazing so who cares what anyone else thinks! Same with your friends loan pony, you may see the problems the pony has but your friend thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread and again, that is all that matters!

You adore your (rather georgeous) pony, you don't need to seek approval from other people because at the end of the day you are the one seeing him every day.

Have fun with him and enjoy him :)

Who cares what anyone else thinks! I have an overgrown pony who is slightly oddly put together with a little horse body and cobby short legs with big knees, and his head is too big for his body. I don't care, I adore him, he is my best friend and he's an absolute dude. He's one of the most useful horses I know, what he doesn't have in looks he more than makes up for with his huge heart. You couldn't wish to find a nicer, more trainable, fun, genuine and generous RC/ grassroots horse. I've known people look down their noses at him but his achievements far eclipse anything their horses have gone on to do.

It doesn't matter what others think. It's very easy for people to get caught up in fancy, flashy looking horses. As long as you love your horse, that's all that matters.

yes,this /\ /\ spot on

Op your pony looks lovely, proper cheeky welshy face :). Don't worry about anyone else all that matters is what you think. If you love your pony and he/she loves you there's nothing more special. People like all different types of furries I myself love the cheeky cute ones (good job for the big guy :) ), but lots on our yard prefer massive hunters, nothing wrong with that, as the saying goes horses for courses.

He is very lovely but don't worry whatever other people think as long as your happy it's all that matters, it could even be a bit of jealousy it can do strange things to people :)

The link is no longer working however it is what YOU think of YOUR horse that really counts. My horse is probably never going to bring home frillies. That doesn't matter because to me he is a superstar. He and I are suited to each other.
