Does anyone not ride during the winter months?

Last winter i had my 3yr old in work so turned her away from October (end) till Feb time - then she had additional time off due to weather. By the time march/april/may came i was pregnant so turned away again untill after baby. Because shes still only 4 (rising 5) the time off has done her good. Bringing her back into work probably end of Feb in time for spring. Hoping to introduce her hunting next winter so she will be kept in work whilst the-hopefully-then-bracked-3yr old will be turned away for the whole of next winter :)

The cob needs to be doing something though now - keeps her out of mischief i think!

I ride 4 times per week all year round (more in the summer hols/easter hols/xmas hols). I won't go out on my own if the weather is abysmal though - I will go in just about any weather if I have company.

Last year I rode through it but it was miserable so I decided to give him from mid Nov to end of Dec off this year.

Thank god I didn't clip as I then dislocated my shoulder early Dec so no riding till early feb now. He gets another month off but my guilt has eased now I'm actually injured so have a justifable excuse.

I had a great spring and summer with tons of riding so just banking on getting that again next year and at least we will both be able to ease back into it together.

I dont tend to ride during winter. Too wet/ cold for me, Id much rather groom and spend time with horsey.

He doesnt seem to mind either, though I still feel guilty someimes!

I tend to relax/chill over winter ... horses have time off too - riding at weekends as and when I can ... certainly dont put pressure on myself - they're happy being neddies :D

Got an arab who's 7 months in foal so she's not being ridden now anyway and an ex racer who's just come out of racing so she's keeping my mare company and having the winter off to 'play' x

I ride at the weekend if the weather is nice (ha ha!) or at least reasonable. But I am not too bothered if he misses a day or two, although I miss being in the saddle as much as the summer months.

He couldn't give a flying fig if I rode him - and I have to scrape off the mud first, only round the saddle patch and bridle parts - he is a hairy bog beast at the moment, and he likes it that way!
