Does anyone not

Mine greenie im bringing on told me on Friday she wanted a road ride, kept drifting to the gate side of the paddock so when I had finished schooling I let her go for a walk around the paddock, but the paddock was not what she wanted she parked up at gate and was very happy when I took her up the road.

She makes it abvious she doesn't like working in the paddock, however when I took her to my instructors place she was a different horse. Think home is a bit boring for her.

I guess that depends on your hacking! I think schooling is fairly boring and would go mad if it's all I had!
 
mine doesnt hack at all in the winter, and rarely in the summer TBH: he's far too sharp and when soemthign sets him off he will then spend the rest of the hack broncing and rearing in the road or hysterically passaging sideways. I worry about traffic, ditches, his legs etc, he has no self preservation.

He goes for a quiet walk round the block (20/25mins) on warm still days in the spring and summer, and thats plenty enough.

i do think its good for legs and minds so do try and take advantage of those warm still days to get him out.

he also goes to the gallops for a blast as its obviously much safer-consistent surface, no traffic and 100% enclosed.

i find it utterly dull but maybe thats because im always aware of how explosive he is, its not relaxing at all and i cant enjoy the scenery.
 
I rarely go in the school. The joy of having horses, for me, is getting out and about and exploring the scenery.
 
I don't hack at all. Haven't done since we bought our yard 7-8 years ago. We come out onto a country lane which is so bendy but the cars speed past our gate doing 50+ MPH. If we come out the gate and turn left about a hundred yards down is a busy road with a roundabout which although its a busier road you can get on a verge. If i had a completely bombproof horse i would but my horse is a nob and whips round so sharp at the sight of a leaf, twig, crisp packet etc. We are out jumping most weekends and are out in the lorry for lessons etc so she isn't drilled in the school every day. Some of my liveries hack but i must admit i don't enjoy it.
