I ask for a very simple reason: sold one of mine to a fellow over a year ago, he appeared yesterday to announce that he had been misled and that said horse was actually very naughty and he coundn't get a bridle on, would not tie up and had bucked with him.

Then he announced that he felt I would be obliged by law to buy the horse back and if I 'cared about my name', I would pay his livery costs.

He is a utter nutter, I'm still laughing/quaking in my flipflops............. If only I dared post his name!

Its taken him a year to find out the horse is so difficult:rolleyes::D

How can I put it without ending up in Court as the owner is registered on here ...... when said ned left, it was the best mannered horse we had known for ages, talented (proven in DR) and a very, very nice person. Handled and ridden by an 'older' lady albeit sensitive in that spurs and whips caused some tension. Goodness knows what has happened over the past year, however we do know that said owner/rider only rides on Sat afternoons and Sunday am (if he's not been in the pub 'till late on Sat night).

If I had the money I would buy back but the seller has more than doubled the purchase price as there is a belief in is mind that his ass in the saddle once or twice a week 'makes' a horse. Speechless tbh.

Oh, they are serious then:eek:, I just assumed some muppet had decided they no longer wanted the horse and were trying it on.

Unbelievable! The man sounds insane.

On the other side, and much nicer, I have just heard for the first time from the people I bought a horse from over three years ago asking how we are getting on :)

For cars trading standards says that first six months then the seller has to prove that the car didn't have a fault, after 6 months the buyer has to prove it had a fault when sold... I should imagine it's a similar thing. After a certain amount of time the onus is no longer on the seller.

I wouldn't give a year as a good horse can be ruined a lot quicker than that, however in the immediate weeks after a sale I'd take back for the initial price providing the advert was 100%. I'd take back for less if damaged and needed vet care due to their negligence etc. However if they refused I would still take back as couldn't leave any of ours to be passed around!

In reality it's bloody difficult to enfore with horses though.

We once gave a horse back after 3 months.... We'd tried everything, went to a Monty Roberts person for 1 month, but still scared me so the lady took her back.
But over a year?!
That does make me laugh! haha

Crazy!! If he has had the horse for 12 months and has only now just decided that it is no good it is most likely that the horses 'issues' are due to the way he has been handling / riding it for the past year. I just feel sorry for the horse as it's obviously not in a great home :(

No way, he's gotta be joking!!!

We bought a pony 18 months ago who decided he was going to be naughty and it took nearly a year before he calmed down.

Sometimes you just need to persevere a bit longer.

Put the wrong person on the wrong horse or pony and it can be totally ruined in a few weeks. Especially ponies as most seem to be born with a naughty gene just waiting to appear:eek:

Well all I can say is if the purchaser is registered on here I hope he reads this. Not even an idiot would have his viewpoint!

He had said horse for a year, basically claims that it is not what was described... Essentially a lesser horse naughty and hard to bridle etc, and in his belief this horse with these 'faults' is still worth twice what he paid you op! Why is he complaining?! If he thinks the horse has upped in value he should be patting himself on the back for making such a good deal! PMSL I've heard it all now, what a prize eejit! Although I tend to agree with your sentiment that you'd buy horse back if only to get it away from such a clown even if your not obliged to. And to the purchaser if your reading this, I suggest you sell the horse that has defied all laws of logic and deteriorated in behaviour yet magically increased in value since you no longer want it! God, it wasn't a loan with all fees covered, it was a sale for goodness sake! Sorry, lots of exclamation marks in my post but I honestly can not believe someone would even try and pull something like this.

I would love to know who on here is actually that insane... Pm me a name if you can ;)

oi get in the queue, me and amymay first:p
your post has given me a plan though, i have a tb who is a bit of a tit to bridle sometimes, i'm going to encourage this behaviour then sell him for double what i paid:D what a money spinner, this time next year rodney we'll be millionaires;):D

Ibblebibble: I'm going to buy a plod and train him to bolt and rear and run away from owner when being caught, I reckon purchase for £1500 sell for no less than £6000, can't imagine why we never thought of this sooner!

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Hilarious! I think you should snatch his hand off at his offer to allow you to buy the horse back at twice it's original price, surely that's a fantastic deal. Dont forget his wee bit extra for luck though! Seriously, what a plonker jjust about covers it!
