Following on from previous thread .......

I am paying £207.11 for 160 tables (ie £172.59 plus 20%VAT) from my Vet. Thats £1.29 a tablet.

When I asked (politely) if I could have a prescription instead, they weren't happy and said if I had a prescription they would just add on the money somewhere else (?!). I own 5 equines and have been with them for 15 years and always pay my bills promptly, so they probably do quite well out of me.

So, I wanted to know what was reasonable for Prascent from a vet. I would like to query it but just wanted to know whether they were particularly expensive, or every other vet in the country charges the same?

Thanks x

I pay about £1 per tablet, so yours do sound a little expensive.

Have you tried equine pharmacy? It was about the same last time I looked, but of course you need a prescription. It's only worthwhile if your vet doesn't charge you £30 to write the prescription, which from what you say, they might!

What a cheek to say that to you though. They should have a standard prescription charge and it's up to you where you buy your drugs.

When my pony got diagnosed with Cushings a couple of weeks ago I started searching for prascend and found Vetmedics where you can buy 160 tablets for £136. Discussing prascend with my vet, he said he would be happy to write a prescription however he has managed to put my pony onto pergolide.

Ive just discovered from my vets that they have reduced the price of Prascend by approximately £20 - worth checking people!
