As title. Am looking at either of these or any other suggestions for a 4x4 that is easy to drive, go shopping , drop kids to school etc as well as used to take the horses to events on the weekends.

Hi,
I was considering a Tiguan, but settled on an Audi Q5 to replace my ailing disco. It's great, good fuel economy round town, comfy on a long journey and tows well. I have only put one pony in so far and have a fairly lightweight trailer, but it was an effortless journey to the vets in really foul wind and rain last Monday. I love it. If I needed to tow more I would be trying a q7 or an Sq5 I think.

I love our Kia sorrento, it's a fab truck to drive around, and is very economical compared to other 4x4s we've had. I tow 2 large horses in an ifor 505, through muddy show grounds and up steep muddy hills without a problem.
One thing I will say, is that the new ones can't tow as much weight, ours is a 54 reg and tough as old boots!

mine is the older one too.......56 plate

Is this for B or B+E licence towing ?

The last link in my signature below may give you some idea what members tow with

I tow an equitrek star treka with a touareg. I love it. I also use it for work and it is a great cruising machine. I wouldn't swap it for anything. You honestly don't even know you are towing.

Love my Sorento, tows my 16.2 Hanoverian and sister's 15.1 tbxwelsh brilliantly. Lovely car for every day too and easy to drive and manoeuvre. Mine is an 03 so the older higher 2800kg towing capacity. Watch out for newer ones (after 08??) as Kia in their wisdom downgraded the towing capacity.

Thankyou for all the replies sounds like both would be suitable. My only other thought is about the tow bar do they generally have the detachable ones?has anyone had any problems with them?

I have a Sorento with a fixed towbar. Never had any problems towing although we did adjust the height of the ball to accommodate the Equi Trek. Can't remember if it was lower or higher though. It was a fair while ago. The Sorento is a really nice truck, very comfortable and spacious for dogs and luggage and other kelter that gets carted about. I changed the tyres on mine to BFG All terrain ones and it was far better for that.

I LOVE my Sorento, can't even feel the trailer when I am towing my mare, haven't towed with two, but do so with confidence, really nice car to drive, and is surprisingly quick when not towing (not that I drive super fast, but occasionally when I need to boot it).
Have also driven to sussex from Birmingham on £25.

It seems the Kia Is the one to go for then. Can I ask which engine you have is it the 3l or 2.5l not sure the whether the 2.5 would be man enought to pull to horses?
