Does anyone remember the black lab dog looknig for a home?

I am not sure about posting his update as I am aware, inadvertently, I led a forummer up the garden path.
Anyway, the actual day he was off to be PTS (he had got to the stage he was hiding under a garden bench thing all day and pooing himself) he went on trial to a couple who live on a farm, no other dogs and no children.
He lives in the house with them and has progressed from wetting himself and trying to dig his way out whenever he heard a beep to 'just' panting hysterically to now being a lot better. He will always be quirky and need patience but they love him and he has hugely progressed. It has taken months and he is still a bit shut down but he is really going the right way.
It makes you realise how much damage a numpty with an electric collar can do to a senstive dog.
Out on walks he is fine it is only inside.

I don't actually remember the original post but I am very glad that the dog has found a good home and is going the right way. Labs can be much more sensitive than people expect. We rehomed a black Lab dog, when I was a teenager, we already had 2 yellow bitches. He had been the 'pick of the litter' for the owner of his sire but he grew over-height for showing and so was rehomed to a couple who lived in a 1st floor flat near a public park. They thought he would be fine being walked in the park before and after work! Obviously he wasn't. He howled and chewed, upsetting the couple and their neighbours.
He came to us, as he was used to being kennelled he settled very well with our two bitches who were kenelled when we were out and in the house with the family when every-one was at home. He was always a nervous dog though and needed clear boundaries. He lived to be 14.

I’m not sure I remember the original thread either but what a positive update. It sounds like he as found the ideal home for him.

I'm really pleased he's doing well and hopefully he continues to improve indoors.

Always nice to hear a positive story Clodagh. Glad someone has had patience with him. Could you point us in the direction of the original post or is his plight a distressing read?
