Does anyone ride in Tyne Muck boots?

I was considering buying some for the winter, but I had a conversation with one of the instructors at the yard who thinks although they're designed for riding they'd be too wide and not very safe in the stirrups - bearing in mind I ride riding school ponies and can't change my stirrup irons for every ride, what do you think?

I ride in them and they are brilliant. I have the special 'riding' ones, which are a slimmer shape than the Tyne Muck Boots. Same make, but specially for riding in.

I bought mine for riding in in the winter and they are great, I don't think the boots are particularly wide and seem fine with my stirrups.
 
They're fine to ride in, but seriously, don't waste your money. I bought myself a pair and they had been thrown together - not what I expect for a £60 pair of boots. They lasted me a total of 12 days before splitting in multiple places and needing to be binned. Nice idea, just not put together properly.
 
I used mine throughout the whole of the winter for yard duties as well as riding. Excellent idea, keep your feet very warm and so comfortable that you dont know you have them on. Unfortunately mine also split in various places around the seams and got binned.
 
Mine are now into their third or fourth season and still holding up well but I dont wear them for anything other than riding. The Tyne is the name of the riding style boot and it is narrower in the foot than the normal welly type muck boots. Made narrower so you can ride in them.
 
I have done, but find them a bit bulky for riding in, although you will never suffer with cold feet. The rubber shoe area does seem to separate from the neoprene leg with lots of use.

Mine are four years old, and I wear them every day in winter and when it's wet in summer, too. They are just beginning to show wear. The pair you bought must have been faulty, and if I had been you I would have taken them back to the shop

Mine are on their 3rd year and I use them to ride in all winter (too warm in summer) - did need a size bigger stirrup though.

Mine still look like new despite daily wear
 
Myself and daughter both have them, been through 2 winters now and daughters also done 2 weeks lambing this year and have been fine. We ride in them but only hacking, wouldn't jump in them. (Well I wouldn't jump full stop nowadays lol). On the subject of boots, just taken back daughters Hunters because the lining has split after only 2 months wear. On looking at them the lining is different and now has a stuck on seam whereas previously was one piece. Would seem they are now being made abroad . Used to swear by my Hunters for dog walking etc but looks like the quality has fallen now, shame!
 
Mine also started to fall apart within a month of buying them.
I took them back to the saddlery and got my money back. I also emailed the Muck Boot company but never got a reply!
Great idea and they do keep your feet warm but mine def were not worth the money.

I went back to the shop, they said there's nothing they could do because they didn't give a proper receipt - they couldn't prove I'd bought them at their shop

I used them for everyday use for 12days, muddy fields, yard work and some light hacking. They weren't put under strenuous use, yet they still fell apart. I refuse to give Muck Boot Co any more of my money - it is better spent elsewhere!

You should have taken that further. Under the Sales of Goods Act you DON'T require a receipt to take back faulty goods.

I believe there were a batch (or two) of Tynes that had problems with them splitting really quickly but AFAIK the company did exchange them for new ones.

I'm on my second pair and they haven't lasted as long as my first ones, but for the warm feet I have during winter, I wouldn't mind buying a new pair every winter. I can't believe the difference they have made - I have poor circulation and usually have freezing cold feet in the winter, even with 4 pairs of socks on!
