Sorry for posting this in here as well as Soapbox but I know that it is a bit of a specialised question and I wanted to maximise my chances of getting an answer. Admin - please remove if you see fit!

My OH is doing some work for the Maltese government and he needs an e mail translating. It's only one sentence but, Malti, is a very difficult language to learn and he can only understand two words of the sentence. I know it's a long shot but if anyone can help please get in touch. Thanks

Can you not type/copy the sentence (or even one word at a a time) into babelfish (translator tool) and see what that comes up with? It may not be exact but you should be able to get the jist of it!

No, unfortunately Malti is too specialised for Babelfish or any other translation tool that I've found. I can only find English-Maltese on-line dictionaries too which aren't much use when you need a Maltese-English one!

Why cant be email back stating he does not understand?
I thought english was 1st language in Malta, so hopefully the other person could translate it for him?!!

That's ok LadyT, neither do I

xxluluxx - yes, English is very widely spoken in Malta but some people speak Malti too. OH could e mail back but he wants to know what the other chap actually said. It might have been more interesting than the English version - he he!

I guess it would have been more interesting in Malti...

Did he write half an email in english then one line in malti? strange!! it must be rude!!!!!!!!

He he! I hope it's not too rude. What I think happened was that he forgot that he was sending it to a non Maltese speaker. It's only one line long and all in Malti. It's probably something really boring

xxluluxx - thank you so much for that! I have just translated it, or think that I have. It seems to say, "It's not a problem for me", or something similar to that which would make sense in the context of the previous discussions that they've been having. Thanks again
