does anyone travel their horse in trailer without partition?

I have been recommended by someone to travel my youngster in the trailer without the partition until he gets mores confident etc does anyone else do this and is it safe and do i just have him tied up by a leadrope tied normally on each side?

Yes, it is definitely safe provided that you have a breast-bar. Also, if you are worried about him turning around, side-tie him, ie use 2 lead ropes and tie him to the rings / bindertwine both sides of the trailer.

it is very common to travel horses without a partition and some can't bear the confinement of having one, and panic.

Yep, we do it with ours (we rarely take them anywhere together) One won't load if the partition's in, the other struggles to travel well in the smaller space due to arthritis. So long as you cross tie them as usual and buy the full breast bars to put across, nothing wrong with it imo.

where can i buy the full breast bars from for an ifor williams trailer he won't go in the trailer with the partition in and i am taking him to his first show soon

This lists the full length breast parts, should be a standard thing for dealers to keep in stock.

I often travel one horse with just the breast bar and no partition, often find they travel better.

I've had a few yearlings that I've had no alternative but to put in the trailer just with a breast bar. Much better for them and it also stops them from stamping on their legs when the panic within the confines of a split partitioned trailer.

Ring Ifor Williams in Corwen. They will have exactly what you want.

You should also use a full length breech bar. I don't use a partition as I feel for one Horse it's safer to travel without one but I would never do so without a full length breech bar as well as a breast bar. The ramp is not designed to cope with the amount of pressure a Horse can exert from inside...especially if you have one that leans its weight back. I remember reading about a tragic accident where a Horse fell out the back of a trailer. You just use the same bar and Ifor do recommend you use them front and back.
Yes, you just cross tie to stop them trying to turn round. Usually they will stand diagonally and most Horses travel better without a partition. It also cuts the weight so saves you some fuel!!
