Does anyone use a 'Be Nice' Halter ?

Does anyone use one to handle their horses ?
Are they worth the money or do standard rope/knotted halters work just aswell ?

I bought a knock off rope halter to use on Scrooge at work. I loved it, I snuck him out in the yard and gave him a lil schooling session with it and he was fab since. Unfortuantly the others at work, saw it as another gaget and didn't give it a chance and led him like it was a normal halter and being a big chap he could lean on it and not feel it. You had to give a big sharp tug then make an exagerated release. Anyway, it stopped me being dragged from pillar to post even if the others wouldn't use it! But i did have to give a 30second "refresher course" whenever I was in! lol

Im still searching on ebay for one in xtra big for my rude ill manared warmblood. ive used them on other horses at the yard and really rate them. they arent that versatile size wise though and they come up quite small too

my gelding came with one and he was a horrible rearer with it on i put a headcollar on as soon as he got home and never rear since.

yeah, I was really surprised how well it worked on my mums mare. She didn't really have any ground manners as she had been treated as a pet too much as a youngster, we had her at 5 We don't use it any more now as she is now fine.

We also used it for loading, she might stop in her normal headcollar, put this on top and walked round the yard a couple of times to make sure she was listening and she would go straight up, saved getting out the lunge line.

they are fab but a dually halter maybe better as easier to use, both gd as long as u do the ground work

The benifit of a dually halter is that you can tie up in it too, saving the need for two headcollers but they can be pricey whereas a knotted rope halter is less than £5

Fantastic, stopped my big bargy horse barging and diving for grass when he felt like it. It also helped when he decided to root himself to the spot and not move.

I use a dually halter to load my pony who is just stubborn to load and it does work if you do some ground work first. It's also good if you need to work on your horses manners like pulling or barging. Although someone at my yard had a rope halter and that worked too, it was just a bit harsher.
