I've been offered a free caravan to keep at my yard for a tack room/changing room.
Does anyone else use one?
Am I going to get in trouble for keeping one in the field?
Thought it'd be nice to have somewhere dry in winter to have a drink and store rugs etc that are not being used.

For free? x3

I'd say yes. I know people who do it, and they're sitting in there cleaning tack and drinking hot chocolate, while we're trying to do the same in the car (we barely fit in there, let alond us and the riding school's saddles!)

So yep, good idea. And if the council are against you having it in the field, try finding a place on the yard? Do you have a car park?

Yep!
Comes in very handy

Used to when I was at the yard as a kid........it had a constant permeating smell of pot noodles and saddle soap.......

Good idea though, they're nice and snug for the winter!

I have used a caravan for tack/feed/warming up in winter for years you dont need planning permission as long as its not a big static one and is on wheels .go for it they are great you will wonder how you ever coped before

great if you can get away with it which you will unless someone complains to council yjen you will be told to move it unless you can get planning from them ,our council wont even let us leave the riding club caravan on field betwen shows after some idiot moaned to them about it so my friends hubby put a huge old muck spreader there for the summer instead and they couldnt do a thing about that as its agricultural .i would try it its worth a go but bere in mind that caravns can be expensive to get scrapped now a days if you have no where to put it , good luck
