Does anyone use a Hay Play

FrankieCob, your suggestion of chaff in it might be a plan? Perhaps something like hifi lite or similar short chop that won't flow out but will trickle out as the horse boots it round. I think that would work better than hay.

I bought a hay ball for my ulcer prone good doer last month. She has a hay cube stuffed full of hay and eats that first. She is starting to get the hang of her ball and my yard owner can hear her knocking it around. She hasn't managed to empty it yet but still has grass in field so not too hungry yet. I imagine that after Christmas, she will use it more. I have to make sure that she has adlib forage so the hay ball is great!

FC I'm not sure if the suggestion was putting an agrobs block in and because it is looser small bits would break off as it rolled about?

oh, duh! Thats a pretty good idea!

I have one for my section B he has it in his stable at night it says it holds 3kg of hay but he only has 2Kg in it at night, and its always empty in the morning, I love it and he has worked out that when its full he picks it up nods his head and he gets hay then as it gets emptier the hay falls out as he pushes it around the stable, I bought it as all the hay pillows I was looking at said not for shod horses this is the only thing that horses with shoes can have. He also has to be fed from floor not from a net because of respiratory problems. I always make sure that he has 1Kg loose on his floor so he can quickly eat that when he comes in and has access to a lick at all times (he doesn't go mad on the lick now he's had it replaced all the time)

Mines very bright especially when it comes to food, so hopefully he works it out. It should be arriving tomorrow so we shall see what he makes of it. And I might dig out my hay pillow thingy as I'd forgotten about that until this post

It came and I lightly stuffed it with his soaked hay today. He loves it and has spent the afternoon happily pushing it round his stable. So for mine its a hit and does exactly what I wanted it to :)

I haven't read all the replies on this post. I have one for my mare and she doesn't find it frustrating at all. She can empty it in 45 mins with no trouble. It doesn't slow her down. I still use it every day as I have it, but could easily do without it

The main problem with it is that the door opening bit has come off... as in the entire thing. The lid and the part attached to the ball that the lid screws into. Luckily my mares foot won't fit through the opening so I'm still using it, but if her foot could fit through obviously I couldn't keep using it.

I wouldn't waste my money for my mare again. It sounds like it works for some horses though.
