Are they as severe as they look? Do they work? Are they dressage legal (my guess is not)? Would like to hear of any experiences good or bad before buying one. Thanks

Ive tried one but it didnt work for my boy. They arent dressage legal but I wanted to use it at home to try and stop my boys annoying tongue habit as it claims the corrective position solves alomost all problems. I think its nothing more that a very thin mullen mouth snaffle. I was wary as it does look like an instrument of torture but my horse leant on it and I felt like I had no brakes at all, although I did lunge him in it and he went to tank off but stopped rather abruptly with a OMG look on his face. I didnt use it again.
They are quite expensive but you can try them for £5 at shop4bits, thats what I did. It took a while to arrive but at least I knew I could send it back without wasting more money.

My sister has one dor her ShirexClydesdale with a thick tongue and a fleshy mouth, a habit of leaning on the bit, and opening her mouth and turning round. The peewee has stopped all of the above, the mare looks to put it in her mouth (she was bit and head shy when we got her) PLUS my sister now has breaks! She recomends it for similar situations.

I have had one since December and the jury is still out! My horse has accepted it quite well on hacks, he has always hated tongue pressure and seems to prefer this bit, but still occasionallly gets strong and will still fight me and throw his head about, so not quite the miracle cure it says on the blurb.

Also despite looking at an internet site I have still not managed to work out the stronger version so have only used mild, and my teenage daughter said she had no brakes in the school when she rode him in it, but that serves her right for being 4 stone lighter than me...!
