Does anyone want loan horses in Jan?

are you trying to loan out at the moment then?
I think people will want a loan horse at any time of the year, if its what they are looking for :p

Yars, but can't say any more lest this seem like advertising.

But I am just wondering if the lack of interest is due to the time of year or something else. The horse is pretty damn good so I'm confused!

One is going this weekend (was meant to go last but thats another story!) to its new loan home off our yard so they do go even at this time of year, mabye its whereabouts you are in the country you are :)

How long had it been advertised for? maybe it could be to do with the wording etc. I suppose if I was looking for something else Id rather wait until the spring

My loan boy is going back at the end of this month and I have been looking for a replacement for a while now (loan was only ever temp over winter) so yes I think if someone is serious the month doesn't matter.

Had quite a alot of interest in our 2 boys, mainly from people in England, but as your South Wales that shouldn't be so much of an issue to you. Where have you advertised, i had my most success with Preloved (which i always thought was a bit pants, but i take it all back now).

I dont see why not, i guess there may be slightly less people looking in Jan compared to say April/May - but it certainly wouldnt put me off...

Good luck - shame the compensation money i'm expecting hasnt come through as i'll be looking for a loan pone once it does!

there are always people on here saying they can't find a decent loan horse especially one that owner is prepared to allow to move for the right home

I am one of them people looking for a loan horse at the moment, but I want to be able to buy after a while too.

What kind of horse have you got?...
Where abouts have you advertised? How about the wording?.

I called about a mare last night that I had been uming and arrging about but called anyway in the end, she sounds literally just what I am looking for all be it maybe a tad too small at 15hh but is cobby type so should be ok.
Owner is of a novice type and didn't really want the mare to be moved, however she did say if it was the right home then she would consider it.

I am going to look at her in a couple of weeks unless she has someone more local comes along.

Pop up your advert and we can check it out...

I can't post my ads unfortunately due to it being perceieved as advertising. However if you search my posted ads, in Picture gallery you can see pics of him :)

His only drawback is he's foul in the stable. Otherwise he's the perfect horse for MOST riders :)

I'm looking for a loan horse at the moment and if I found the right one would be more than happy to take it on in January.

There don't seem to be very many advertised at the moment and as already said most people seem to want to either do a share or keep them on the same yard.

We've been trying (not too seriously though at the moment) to put our 8 year old 16.1hh Sports Horse out on loan (with a possible view to buy) and have had lots of enquiries, but think we are being just too fussy as to where he goes. Should we lower our expectations of what we want for him? We don't want (a) a yard with barbed wire fencing; (b) going on full livery but the loanee will only see him once or twice a week; (c) be kept on his own; (d) be shared between 3 friends; (e) teenagers about to sit exams and say they might have to give him back if they get overloaded with homework; (f) people who say they weigh less than 11 stone and turn up either very heavily padded up or telling a few fibs about their weight; and so the list goes on.

This horse is so talented, has no mileage on the clock, and is being absolutely wasted here at the moment but he was (and still is) the best horse we've bred and we want to make sure he goes to the best possible home where someone will get the best out of him. But going back to the beginning, I think we're just too fussy. Time wise of the year - enquiries have been made about him during the past 12 months, so I don't think any month is a good or bad month to be honest.
