Does anyone's dog do this?

My Lab Toby, will throw his stick/stone onto the ground, nudge it with his nose a couple of inches and then frantically pull up the grass/ground and shake it violently, throw it over his shoulder and continue, then he nudges the object a few inches further on and continues. Its hilarious and he could spend hours doing it! If left to it, a field can look like a family of badgers have the spent the weekend there. Luckily I have stopped him doing it in the garden!

Yes. Stella does this with her squeaky ball when I ignore her. Except she rolls it, kills it, rolls it, kills it. Drives me nuts.

My collie will amuse himself for hours. His favorite game is sliding stones. He'll find one, take it up the hill, put one paw on it and slide the stone while running along

It hilarious when he does it across the drive although it leaves huge scratch marks across it

That reminds me of my old dog Badger - the kids would kick a really small stone along the lane and Badger would leap after it and sort of run backwards waiting for it to be kicked again - dogs really are quite stupid sometimes but the entertainment value is priceless!
