does anyones horse 'hum' to himself?

its hard to describe,
almost since breaking him in ive noticed that as we're walking along my gelding often seems to hum along to himself, he seems very relaxed, confident and happy with things, does anyone else have a horse that does this?

sometimes mine makes a low... groan... sort of like a hum i guess... he usually stops if i wake him up with a change of pace?

My lad groans like an old man sometimes. Doesn't matter if he is having a poo, or a wee, when he gets up, when he goes down, when he stretches etc. It was alarming at first but its quite funny now. Thing is - he is only 6, imagine what he will be like in 10 years time

Do you mean when your riding or lunging? the sound that geldings make, its the air going up the (male part) and hums in a rythem, is that what you mean?

yeah i know that noise and with mine its not that one - definately a lazy groany noise thats goes in time with his stride at walk...

a mare of mine does horrendous proper exagerated groans when she stretches, she does that stretching dog yoga position thingie, which disturbs people thatdont know her (hey, she disturbs me and i DO know her!)

it jsut seems to happen if he's paticularly cheerful, yes its in time with his walk

my big wb humms deep in his throat when he works and has to concentrate, especially in trot!

My arab does this all the time and I agree he does it when he's happy. If he's VERY happy sometimes he squeaks, its hilarious.

ive heard my veteran do it to, when a neighbours disabled son was being led on him, the horse was taking it VERY seriously, like the boy was made of glass, funny how they know things isnt it

Buzz squeaks when he is enjoying himself, everyone thinks its highly funny, he normally does something stupid after it to so i know to sit tight!! he squeaks when he is turned out too, he's and old grump the rest of the time

Yes! My warmblood mare mutters to herself when we're hacking, especially when we're with others

She does it when we're schooling sometimes, and has even done it in a dressage test. Thankfully the judge thought it was quite amusing!

My friend's horse grunts to herself when she's working or hacking, which is amusing as you can have a full blown conversation with her. All I get from Genie is the biggest sigh ever.
