The last few horses I have ridden have all seriously bucked or broncoed with me. I'm getting to the point where I'm wondering if any horse doesn't do this!!

It all started when I loaned a big warmblood gelding, he went pyscho with me one day, broncoing until I was on the floor. (Turned out the owners were known as dodgy and the horse had some serious issues, it broncoed regularly to the point of actually sitting down!! Yes, I stopped loaning him.)

I then rode my friends horse, she said it hadn't cantered much in the school before but would I try. I did, and she put her head between her legs and bucked with me. Luckily I stayed on this one.

Lastly, I was treated for my birthday to go to a hacking centre and go out on a 2 hour hack. Just so me and a friend could ride different horses and see different scenery. I was put on a massive TB type mare. As soon as we did our first canter, yeh, you've guessed it, she throw herself into a bucking fit and then continued to do this throughout the whole hack in both trot and canter, so we had to walk the rest of the way round. (I had a feeling she had ill fitting tack, but was told this was nonsense by the lead rider and to carry on, she was just excited.)

Anyway, from my last 3 experiences, I seem to now have it in my head that all horses buck at some point. I'm not too scared by this but I can't say I like riding bucking broncos. My youngster is coming in to work this year and I just pray he isn't going to be like this!

Does anyone's horse never buck? Or even rarely buck?

The last horse I had (TB) never bucked in the 10 years I owned her. The horse before that didn't either and I owned her for 13 years. No, they do not all buck and certainly don't all bronc. Maybe you grip too hard with your legs ?

All the horses I have owned in the last 10 yrs have had a small buck in them occasionally - but all done in a friendly, 'I'm excited' way. Have never had a serious broncker, or one that has tried to deliberatley buck me off, but if did it wouldn't stay with me for long.

Maybe you have an electric bum?!

Until last week i would of said Boris my share horse would never ever do this (he's the i will just get faster and stronger type- not the leaping around type- too much effort!!).... has never done it with me in the three years i have been sharing him.....

However he is feeling VERY full of himself atm, so decided to give him a nice canter round the field to get rid of some of the excess energy.... queue head between knees- 4 big bucks, and sodding off....... i was so shocked i just burst out laughing- which was not overly conducive to stopping!!!

My mare rarely bucks (I have had her nearly five years)-only once last week after being kept in with the bad weather she did one when we cantered on a hack!

The mare I used to ride would never buck or rear. If she was excited she would throw her head round a bit but never never never do anything like buck! It wasn't through lack of energy more that she just knew it was wrong.

The mare I ride now will buck if I annoy her or if she gets excited.... they can be pretty big lol!

My sadly late lamented Ollie never did with me in 18 years, although the person I bought him from said he bucked out hunting, but I don't hunt so I never found out.

Neither of mine are buckers. However when he had a bad back, which we knew nothing about, Captain threw a couple of bucks in. That is how we knew he had a bad back, got our back man out and turned out he had thrown his pelvis out pratting around in the field. We have our back man at regular intervals anyway but goes to show horses will let you know if something is wrong, maybe the horses were saying something and no one was listening?

Fany has never bucked.

Don't want to rude but are you too forceful with your legs? Do you use your crop to reinforce your leg or do you use it on the horses hind quarters? It seems a bit of a co-incidence that all the horses you ride are bucking. This is not criticism just an idea.

My current horse hasn't bucked once in the 6 years I've had him. My old boy bucked twice in 14 years. 2 individual bucks, not two bucking fits. The first time was when we put his show saddle on for the first time that season. He'd really muscled up over the winter and it was too tight on him. I knew something was wrong as he'd never bucked before so used his GP saddle instead and got his show saddle sorted. The second time I had forgotten to take his tail bandage off and he was just reminding me!

My share horse has the odd bunny hop when he's very excited but they're the sort that make you laugh rather than frightening you.

I have owned my mare for nearly 6 yrs. In all that time she has only twice done stupid little teeny barely noticeable bucks. Both times was when the flies were driving her mad after we had walked through a cow field.

Axel got a bit over excited one day on a hack and did 5 massive bucks and I fell off, poor boy looked horrified that I was on the floor and has never bucked since that day! He did the odd buck before that but it was very rare.

Beau does little foot high rear leaps into canter or 'bounces' her chunky butt when very excited but they're funny. She has NEVER bucked with me, even during breaking or when she changed shape and I didn't keep up with her and change saddle quick enough.

Ice has bucked with me once out hacking, I only backed her in July and this was a very windy day in sept/oct. She had never done it before, or since, massive buck, I came off. She was horrified, carried concussed little me home like an old riding school horse (i'm told, don't remember) and didn't even have much of a spook at the train-monster.

Lottie would never be so un ladylike or rude as to buck under saddle, (a dainty buck-and-fart in the field is acceptible to her though!)

Bucking is not the norm!!

I think there's a big difference between bucking out of excitement and 'I'm going to throw you into that tree' type efforts. My horse bucked when excited (playing in the field, cantering in company, occasionally when jumping) but has NEVER tried to buck me off.

Bucking certainly isn't a universal trait. I've met a few horses that absolutely never buck, and lots that only throw in a little hop now and then. Serial, violent bucking is not normal or okay, and most horses don't do that without reason.

The first horse I shared did a couple of big bucks with me (only once) but it was sheer excitement at doing some canter work in the top field on the first sunny day of the year. And my mare has broncoed with me (only once but only got her in October) but realised she'd not been ridden for 2 months, and we've since had the physio out who found her to be in a huge amount of discomfort and couldn't believe she would let anyone tack her up let alone ride her, so she's forgiven that one - whichever the reason I'm trying not to get worried about it cos I don't think its in her nature!

Mine has only done it once with me when the others were running about in the field, plus this was also after 2 months of box rest. Didnt come off though but i dont think that was her intention to get me off, think it was more excitement / showing off etc . Shes usally well behaved.

My horse beofre that never ever bucked/reared etc she was excellent.
Maybe youve just had bad luck - chin up :)

Pidge 17hh ISH only bucked once in the 5 1/2 years I've had him and that was a small one :D However he is quite adpet at humungous bucks and fly bucks in the field, just doesn't do them under saddle thankfully :)

hmmmm i dont no many if im honest! im trying to think of a horse i have ridden that hasnt... maybe a couple.
My second pony was awfull but has taught me to sit to some massive bucks!

My mare rosie is quite bad, you could canter canter canter SLAM bronk rear buck! i dont have a clue why but its not enjoyable.
One pet hate is when a horse drops a shoulder i hate it so hard to stay on and i have slammed on the floor many times.

The last horse I had bucked loads, in the school, on hacks, in fields..not corkscrew but still hard to sit! Now the horse i'm sharing would dream of it I dont think! Well he has never bucked with me :) There are still horses that dont buck! But it can be hard to find a forward going horse who dosent pop in the odd little buck from time to time.

My TB hasnever bucked once with me riding him. My Welsh doesn;t make a habit of it, but will bronc in a ridden class at a show (great)

Not once did Starla ever buck under saddle. In the whole time I've owned her I never even saw her buck in the field or on the lunge. Strange horse, I always wanted a few more fireworks, but never got them! :)

My gelding bucks. Not regularly, and if you sit the first you will be fine - if he thinks he can get you off you're gone!

My loan mare has never bucked and the lady who owns her has had her 10+ years :)

I've had mine since a foal (now 5 rising 6) and he's only done it once when I was so thrilled with him I leant forwards and gave him mega pats and 'good boy's. Shant be doing that again! Before him, yes all of them I'm afraid

Molly has never bucked, even though she's very whizzy and only when jumping, no bucks.
Kao bucked once with my Mum. She couldn't ride for toffee in my treeless and she had wellies on. He'd never cantered in the school before and I said "He'll be fine!...I just don't want to do it at first :) GO!" her leg slipped back as he did his first stride of canter and he did tiny buck.

Touch wood for this of course.

Unfortunately a lot of the horses I know aren't very well trained and/or have badly fitting tack. So they buck sometimes, riding school ponies (the ones I've met) have usually lost the will to live so don't do much past a slow trot.

But there are a lot of horses out there that don't buck :)

Obie puts his head right down between his knees and does little bunny hops when VERY VERY excited. The first time he did it he did it so quick and fast I lost my balance then he changed direction (hacking in large field) and I plonked off the side, but I've got used to it now and can tell if he's going to do it. He's never malicious in anything he does.

My 8year old TB bucks, rears & broncs!....

She does little bucks, when shes getting tired, only time she ever bucks.
She used to rear (hasnt reared for ages now touch wood!), when she gets stressed.
Broncs for excitment jumping, but she used to do it to get me off, intill i learnt how to stop her & she soon got bored!
