Hiya,
I've been thinking and was wondering if the colour blue roan counts as coloured? Just curious as to wether my blue roan would be eligible for coloured classes at shows etc
Thanks!

Not really it is not coloured but some smaller shows will allow roans, duns, palominos and a few others in the classes, you need to check the schedules.

I would never have put our blue roan in a coloured class. To me a coloured is a mix of white and any other colour in solid patches. (But that's just me) If you allow a blue roan there is little difference with a very dark iron grey. You have to draw the line somewhere.

No. Blue roan is not coloured. Coloured is piebld, skewbald, tricolour. As said some smaller shows allow duns, roans, palaminos etc. Check with the show secretary.

In the Shetland world anything that isn't black is considered as coloured in the standard ranks but that does not mean say a chestnut or bay can go in a normal coloured class. Only multi coloured ponies can.

To be concidered a coloured a horse has to have a solid patch of white on a different coloured coat above the level of the stifle but excluding the head.
Roans do not count as coloured however some local shows run classes for "odd" colours so Roans, Duns, palominos etc
