as per title , my horse is getting increasing nasty about tacking up and girthing up, had physio do her nothing on back region just tightness in neck/poll had saddle rechecked last night (was altered 5 weeks ago) and thats fine, she is a stressy sort, she is out 24/7, has hay in shelter and lots grass on field still, has no cereals, only chaff, kwikbeet, soya flakes and linseed meal. supplements are brewers yeast, magnesium and chamomile. She has actually been starting to move away from mounting block to the extent it can take me 10 mins to get on if i am alone. ok if someone stands there. So am thinking ulcers.
I thought i would try a 5 day course of coligone to try and if she is any better then get her scoped. BUT - got it home to read on packaging only adminster orally not in feed - now i dont have or cant get until monday a syringe big enough for 50ml. So does it still work if put in dinner ???? or am i wasting money putting it in and should i wait til monday when get to vets for a syringe?

thanks (by way sporting a huge and i mean huge bite mark on arm from her this morning - she turned around and bit me - I will admit it made me cry!)

It's brilliant stuff. I'm surprised that it says NOT in feed. Are you sure? They make 2 types of Coligone. 1 type is an aniseed flavoured liquid and this comes in different size tubs. They also make a thicker liquid in a syringe like a worming syringe. It is designed for fast, emergency administration. They also make Coligone as a minty flavoured powder, and this is ideal (I find) as a maintenance dose. The powder AND the liquid can be put in the feed, though you may have to introduce both gradually depending on how picky your horse is about funny new tastes! The minty powder at a maintenance/preventative works out to only pence per day and I reckon is well worth it. I also feed it to my lot if they are changing fields, travelling, etc etc - anything that may upset them a little.

I'd recommend you PM H's Mum - she can tell you everything you ever want to know about Coligone x

thanks for that - yes says not mixed with feed but i did post in comp and she answered me there that you can put in feed, its just for a short trial to see if she responds - if she does then i would say she has ulcers and will get scoped. So have the liquid.
If she has ulcers will look at the powder for long term usage
