When charities such as the Blue Cross etc rehome horses how much do you think the distance the horse has to travel to a destination plays in their discision to rehome . I applied to a horse welfare charity to adopt a horse a few months ago and because there were other people interested before us we missed out. We have excellent facillities and over 25 years experience of owning and working with horses and could offer a horse a smashing home for life.Living a few hours from the nearest rehoming centre do you think this would mean that we would not be suitable fosterers .

Depends on the charity I think

I also wonder whether because they do yearly home checks on the horse to see how they are doing whether they are prepared to travel all that way to do a check up on the horse!

i know some charities have people in different areas that do home checks.
1 of the ex racehorse charities rehomes all over the uk and has home checkers all over the uk also

i know of a blue cross pony close to me and we are in cornwall. they do 6 months checked and if i remember correctly the women that does it. has an 800 mile round trip for 1 pony. if you are thinking of rehoming i wouldn't bother with trawllm farm as they are very expersive(sp)
