the YO has made me cry weekend just gone saying infornt of everyone that my horse is a disgrace and is skin and bone... can i please have you opinions?

hes 7YO exracer and is very fit he could go out and do a 3 day even or hunt and come back with little sweat....

i do try my best with his he isnt the best doer in the world and TBH theres not alot of grazing and hes not hungry as he gets 2 large nets a night and doesnt finish them and he also gets a small net before turn out pluss 2 hard feeds a day... (we do alot of fast work and jumping)

thanks :)

its not the best photo hed just had a pee.... :)

Some people wouldn't know a fit horse if you smacked them over the head with it.
The same people wouldn't notice a horse was obese even if it sat on them.

Looks good to me. :D

Looks absolutely fine to me. people are so used to seeing fat horse they dont know a fit one when its right infront of them.

Keep saying that my boy is fat (he is) and everyone is telling me he is just perfect...no he is not. Grr annoys me

I think he looks fit and the right weight, I think these days people are so used to seeing fat horses they assume anything who's ribs you can feel and god forbid slightly see are underweight!

thanks guys.... im trying my best with the weight but i dont want to give up working him just so he can have more coverage so the Yo can stop winging!!

i wouldnt mind hes got 3 TB's himself!!

this have put my mind at rest a little :)

He looks like a cracker to me , and i agree with the others who say some people wouldn't know a fit horse if it ran them over , like some people think it's acceptable to keep a horse in ' show condition' when really it's nothing short of obese.

Looks good to me! Too many people mistake "condition" for being fat and unhealthy. It's far better for a horse to be on the leaner side :) your YO sounds very unprofessional (and unknowledgeable)

Looks good, don't bother about getting any more condition on him, they're not designed to carry extra fat! He's a fit flight animal.

i dont really want to move yards as this is like 2 mins from my house i can walk it there and the facilities are amazing, working hunter feild international sized out door and indoor and a farm track..

he likes to be fit and worked other wise he dropes the weight and weaves hes very stressy when not in work.

even worse on box rest :(

i myself wouldnt mind a little more meat on his bones but hes only young and excerised almost every day sometimes twice a day so more muscle than anything...

but any tips i will welcome :)

thanks i really do appreciate your kind replys :)

i myself think he looks fine and fit iv never had any coments from judges saying hes to thin iv had comments asking if we event (obs he looks fit enough to do that) :)

im working on building his neck and bum muscles back up now were getting there

I think you will just have to ignore your YO (in the nicest way of course!.

You have what looks like a fit horse, obviously this is just a snapshot so we can't see him from behind etc tho.

I certainly would not worry at ALL on what I can see there :)

He does look a bit of a skinny bean but then he just looks like he's that kind of shape anyway.. espcecially if he's fit and young.

He's obviously getting fed plenty, you should've told her to bugger off!

thanks iv told him hes fit so many times but he just got to me at the weekend!!... i can post some more photos tomorrow from behind and the other side and maybe a ridden photo and get your opinions then?

iv never had him heavier than in this photo even on the most lush of grass thats been super long and grazed all day ....

his coats never dull and hes always cheeky and always eger to gt on with work (loves his new trick, flying changes..... since we started doing them i the school he does them in feild when i turn him out.... he does 4 time tempi changes haha!)

hes a cleaver nugget!

i try to ignore him its just had sometimes :)

To be honest I much prefer horses to look like yours than many of the fat horses I see around. He's in great nick - I couldn't stay at a yard that treated me like that but I can understand your reasons - I suppose just do the whole mental 'smile and wave' when your YO next tries to speak to you.

What PaddyMonty said most people wouldn't recognize a fit TB if they were smacked in the eyes by one let's be honest they'd just think like your YM that they're underweight
