My rising 3yo used to be very polite move out of the way and be generally well mannered!

However in the last month he has been turned out with 11 other horses and has slowly been creeping his way up the pecking order!!

Now they still tell him off but they generally let him get away with quiet a lot, he has been in front at the gate some evenings which is un-usual as they are all behind him.

Now he has also started being bargy with me, walking straight over me, running past as he comes out the gate, not backing up as soon as asked (will do the odd step reluctantly!!) and being generally disrespectful!

So here comes the question.... what can I do to regain some respect?

Any exercises hints and tips much appreciated!!

He is just too big to be pushing his weight around!

Thanks

Get him to move his feet :)

If you want to go from point A to B and he's in the way, walk direct and make him get out of your way. Quietly and gently, no need to be rough or harsh.

Make sure he stands still when you're handling him, such as taking rugs of, etc. If he moves, quietly and gently put him back to where he was. Note: no baby voices etc., you don't want him to think he's being rewarded for moving.

I have this occasionally with the Dizz. If I give her half an inch, she'll take my head off.

Thanks for the reply!
