Does horse riding impress girls? What about polo?

When I did a local XC the other week there was only one other bloke there, shall we say he was VERY friendly  so girls you may not have it all your own way ;) Just can't get my head round two blokes  women women women............the only way :D

A gay man on the XC course ????

Obviously a brave dressager coming out to play ;)

here it is in full

Endurance riders go the distance.
Eventers do it for 3 days.
Dressage riders are perfectionists.
Rodeo riders like a rough ride
Showjumpers do it against the clock

so what was it for polo players!??

I think riding must impress girls, as I have seen some MIGHTY ugly event riders (well, one in particular :p ) and SJers (2 or three off the top of my head!) who never seem to be short of girls... and so the only thing I can think may be attractive is the fact they ride ;) :p

What about Jockeys?! I've heard they are all about staying the distance.... :o :o :o :D

I think it is the ratio thing. About 50 women to every (straight!) male

lol! I guess.... but still, REALLY?! :p ;)

I know but imagine if some of these girls never get to anywhere other than horsey events they may never get the chance to meet anyone anywhere else - can be the only explanation??
I agree I have some some HIDEOUSLY unattractive men pursued by far more attractive girls in SJ world:confused: Have just switched to eventing so can't really comment on that and far too old to take notice of it now :p

If you think about it logically though the horse industry is so hard to make a living in some of these wannabees will have no other way of getting by than hooking up with a name or someone with their own yard who they can piggyback off. I mean who'd want to be eeking a living in their thirties, forties with no yard of their own and doing a bit of freelance stuff, and a few low key competitions , not ideal and no security at all.

Many i'm sure will think being with an ugly is a reasonable trade off for the returns offered cos the alternative must be very scary.

No, I don't necessarily think its just their riding, some of the ugly tree victims out there also have some nice money behind them (even if its their owners) and some fine horses. Maybe thats the most attractive thing in the package? :p :D

OOH there is awonderful expression that covers this....something along the lines of 'only as hot as the horses he rides' but I think the original was about cars or something equally boring...

Drat this is going to bug me all night...

Ah that can't be right can it as some of the top uglies have very hot horses ??

Oh gawd this made me laugh. Cant say I am in the market for another man, but its always nice to look. Have to say Mini TX and I always have a bit of 'Hunt the hot man' at whatever competition we are at. Its usually more fruitful at events. Showjumpers are definitely not nice and I am yet to find a man at a dressage competition.

It does also help that they dress properly. I took her to some BE training and there was a male there in the tightest breeches you could ever imagine. We have a name for him, that I wont repeat it on here. However, we see him pretty regularily at events and cant stop laughing every time. Men in tight nylon breeches, no matter what discipline is a huge no no.

Also, dont know how old OP is but have you tried joinng the Pony Club? The only males in our branch get non stop female attention and never have to clean their tack.

i can think of one very ugly event rider. No fit horse would ever make up for his ugliness

Theres lots of fit jockeys tho...

My son seems to have a bevy of girls at PC who muck out for him & help him learn his tests. I think he employs the learned helplessness tactic so beloved by men. "oh is it hay or straw that goes in this net thing..." In return he just has to be quite gentlemanly & love his horse it seems (obviously being 6ft & a good looking rugby player also helps)

I think riding makes men seem quite sexy, apart from when they wear the wrong breeches, inparticular white, chocolate brown, navy or black stretchy tight ones - hideous.

Oh gawd, please dont put pictures in my head....... White ones in particular are pretty vile when they are tight and leave nothing to the imagination and its amazing how many men actually wear them, regardless of discipline. They really should be jailed by the fashion police for crimes against the equestrian public.

That's a bit broad!! :p

wench, indeed, but they are a bit short... ;)

Kat... Ignoring flat jockeys (that all seem to be midgets and look like they should still be at school) most jump jockeys dont seem to small. They are a bit broader so cancels out the smallness! (Got quite a few fit ones in mind !)

Lol! I dunno, I know a P2P/Jump jockey who reckons he is tall for a jockey...and is about the same height as me when I'm wearing flats (5'7) But then my idea of short may not be someone elses :D Agree they are broader though :p

Most jump jockeys must weigh between 10-12 stone. I know of one jump jockey who weighs a lot more than his taller (although admittdly skinnier) brother. By about a stone!

Umm, that one works both ways.

Seen at County level SJ comp: Female rider, White skin tight jods, visible cellulite and a huge wobbly....behind...NOT NICE.
