I work with someone who is very arachnophobic, she has "killed" the top of a strawberry before now!
Would she benefit from hypnosis, to cure her fear?

Don't know about phobias but i know someone who was hupnotised to quit smoking and everytime he wanted to smoke he drank water, he cut down for a few months and by that i mean he became more secretive but now he smokes as much as ever. And the strawberry top thing - done that and also tomatoes

I think it really depends on the person.

I had hypnosis to try to give up smoking. It didn't work at all. I REALLY tried to follow exactly what he was saying but I just knew I hadn't been 'hypnotised'. It took about 2 hours in total and I was gasping for a ciggie by the end of it

The worst thing was he took my packet of cigarettes and said I wouldn't need them any more. I didn't have the heart to tell him so had to go and buy some on the way home!

Not everyone can be hypnotised, some people just don't relax their brain into it even if they are really trying to.

Some zoos do do 'courses' for arachnophobes which are supposed to be good though - they end up with people snuggling the tarantulas!

If you find anything useful let me know - my OH won't consider the zoo thing but I'm tired of having to 'rescue' him...
