Does it matter if a bit is 1/2" too wide?

Posted about this a few days ago, but basically Lacey LOVES the kimblewick and I have brakes in it. Bearing in mind we've tried about 15 bits and she's hated them all except her plain snaffle we couldn't stop in...

But the curb hooks rub her (not the actual chain, the hooks). Too high for bit rings, curb guard won't work so I've bought some new curb hooks thinking I can swap it round if that makes sense. But if this still rubs her, could I buy one thats half an inch bigger?

Only thinking so that the curb hooks wouldn't be touching her cheek then. The actual bit currently fits fine and its the same size she's always been in. So on a port mouth kimblewick, would it make a difference if it was 1/2" too wide?

thats a good idea, i dont think it should affect her but just make sure in is not 'flopping' in her mouth, just so it doe not bang around in there an do any damage.

good luck ope it works x

I had the exact same problem with my pony! I had him in a 5" snaffle and when I had to change to a pelham the curb hooks on a 5" one rubbed, so I changed to a 5.5" and hes been fine with it

If these quick links rub her (shan't put it past her xD shes so sensitive) I'll just go up a size.
