Does it put you off when...

In a word, no. It's always worth enquiring if the horse sounds like what you're after in my opinion. I understand some people see it as the horse will be too expensive for them though.

Yes, if I am umming and awwing over the horse. No if it seems to tick all my other boxes. You mostly can judge the price band from the description and picture anyway, unless the horse is very unrealistically priced. But as a seller (unless I was selling a very well known horse) I wouldn't put POA on an ad.

Its like those expensive boutiques that have fab dresses in the windows with no price labels ...basically of you have to ask the price you can't afford it!!

Yes, imo it just wastes time in pointless phone calls.

I agree with this. However...sometimes people just dont want everyone knowing their business and how much they are selling a horse for and may put poa. if its something your particularly interested in theres no harm in ringing up and being upfront about asking how much they are looking for it'll either be in your budget or it wont! Even then i've called about horses which are over my budget but have been upfront on the telephone about how much i have to spend and you will be suprised the amount of people who will still say come have a look. The horse market is quite tough at the moment and half of these orses you see overpriced you wonder how many of them actually sell for that kind of money

Yes would totally put me off, i would assume i would be wasting their time as they'd be too expensive!!

I totally just don't understand why you would put that?

Why would you want it to be a secret?

I guess some people just dont want everyone knowing their business as to how much they sell their horses for?

I personally have never sold a horse poa. Saves a lot of time wasting for both parties!!

deffo puts me off!!! for lots of reason but mainly, why the chuff cant they put the price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P= (pointless ringing about his horse unless you have silly money)

0= (objective being to get you on the phone so they can justify the price)!!!!

A= (Arrogant, in my honest and humble opinion)!!!!

If a horse is pretty expensive then I think fair enough... if I bought a horse for a large sum I wouldn't want everyone knowing what I paid! Imagine the pressure at your first show if people recognised the horse, I would hate it! I think you can get a rough idea from the picture and the ad whether you could afford it.

Saying that I've never been rich enough to buy or sell a POA horse!

I'm horse hunting at present. POA will not be considered.

Though, having read how bitchy some yards can be, I do have some sympathy for those seeking privacy.

Won't phone up re POAs. If they can't be bothered putting the price, I can't be bothered phoning up about the horse.

I wouldn't enquire as I would assume it means very expensive so would be out of my budget, If I was looking to spend say £20k upwards then would be a different story

I once enquired about a POA. The horse was massively overpriced (think well over 30K for an 16yo intemediate horse!!!!!!!!!). I've never called up about another one, as i've realised I wouldn't be able to afford one.

Why should the price be a secret, I never understand. I did call about one once asked about price first and got a very frosty response. So yes it definately puts me off.

Yes i'd never ring a POA.

There's no point wasting anyones time the sellers or mine and its awkward if the price is either ridiculous for whats being sold or over your budget.

I do wonder if some professionals put it POA cos they think it gives them 'kudos' or another opportunity when / if someone rings and the horse in the advert is too dear but ' don't worry I have another seven in your price bracket'.
