Any advice welcome - I have decided to purchase a baucher waterford but I am unsure if the fit is correct.
As nearly all reccomend sizing up, I have gone for a 6inch - she has been in a 5.75 NS starter loose ring.
I am no expert in bits but given she is a regular leaner the waterford has always been suggested to me to try.
Please let me know if you think it looks about right or too big? Thank you!

I don't mean in any way to sound patronising, but do you think that having a few lessons with a coach might help? Once you have found a suitably-sized bit?
My horse is much more go than whoa, and is quite determined, sometimes, to keep going faster, etc. Bit response goes out the window. I've found using my core muscles to be much more efficient than the reins in these circumstances, alongside squeeze and release on the reins. In desperate circumstances, I've used the one rein stop, but haven't needed to do that lately (fingers crossed!) Good luck with your pretty mare.

No thank you - as I said, any advice welcome ? I have an instructor for flatwork and regularly go out to jump and xc clinics with coaches - in all of these scenarios my snaffle is more than adequate. Head out on a group hack/fun ride (the only time I'm hoping to use an alternative bit) and it's a totally different situation - whilst I do manage to hold her, my thoughts were perhaps having something a bit stronger I could be a bit lighter with would be better for the both of us and I might not come back with my abs burning! Maybe I do need to find a way of getting a coach to come out on a hack though to check in with what I'm doing is correct - or maybe she will just always think she needs to be at the front of the pack. ? I mean no one said riding was easy did they ?
