I have been looking for a part loan for the last 2 months, and I can't seem to find anything suitable! The only people offering part loans either want me to pay a ridiculous amount of money to bring on their green horse so they can sell it, or have an elderly horse who is only really suitable for light hacking. Is a good, sane, sound and safe horse too much to ask?
I literally have looked everywhere and I'm at my wits end with this:(

There's a thread in New Lounge about this. Mine is sane, well schooled, and has several people viewing him this week for a part loan (nowhere near you, I'm afraid).

What I don't get is people refusing to pay. It is not a god given right to own/ride and I work hard to pay for livery etc. I want my horse ridden more but I feel very strongly that people should pay: you don't go onto a yard and get use of a horse for free. It's £60 to hire a horse at a yard with amazing hacking near me.

I think if you can't offer schooling on if necesary, then you should be paying cash. Sorry, bit of a rant!

Why not try the websites in this thread?

Mostly it seems they want to turn up and ride for free;one of late could`nt tack up..but made out to be experienced, why do this? Found her trying to jam on a bridle without undoing the noseband for God`s sake. These are things I could do at six! Found one lovely lady for the quieter horse, still looking for one for the highland..who is a typical pony and will take the piss. All I require is a contribution to farrier costs and grooming /tack cleaning as and when, not much to ask.

Totally sympathise - we have a pantent safety 16.2 hunter type, does a nice dressage test (Novice+), hunts with good manners (stands still whilst I have a sloe gin!!!), can be a plod or active hack depending who is on board. BUT: We have had people who ask for help to tack up, do not even pick up droppings deposited on the yard and the piece de resistance was the 'lady' who having agreed to pay for shoes, allowed farrier to shoe horse and then announced she had forgotten her bag and that the owner would 'catch up' with the farrier ....... if you are here, remember we know who you are!

So no, I wouldn't part loan again, firstly I was embarrassed with the farrier and frankly, amazed that folk cannot tack up and more to the point expectr me to do it for them! Part loan in our case was to get the horse into work, not for financial reasons really but the idea of paying for shoes seemed to encourage 'commitment'... or not!

Oh I had one of those..always scuttled off when the farrier was nearly done! I think in a whole year she contributed £20.00What is it with these freeloaders???

Tell me a bit more about yourself, I may be able to help ;) Is Sandbach too far?

Well personaly speaking I would never loan one of mine out. I would share though or loan from my yard.

I have and do share/ loan from here. Too many horses are going missing on loan and I don't want mine being added to the statistics.

Don't get me wrong I have nothing against loaning out, but this is why I won't loan mine out to leave the yard , and maybe why there is a reduce amount out there for loan.

Whereabout are you. I know someone looking for some help & a small contribution would be a bonus. In my view part loan means part.of costs also so, if that's something you aren't prepared to do then I wouldn't consider it's part loan you are looking for. Your luck whatever.

I've got a 16hh Id x who I'm wanting to share or part loan (she'll never leave here!) but I'm struggling to find anyone! Shes a bombproof weight carrier and will give anyone confidence and the only person who turned up admitted she was a novice in the care side but had ridden for 4 or so years, so helped her tack up and the second my mare moved she curled up in a ball screeching that she was gonna fall off! Then admitted that she had ridden in the local rs for approximately 6 weeks!

So if anyone is looking for a bombproof hack who could jump if the time was put in for fitness up in the durham area, give me a bell!

I too have looked for someone reliable to ride my Sect D Cob, I don't want any financial contribution just ask that they ride him and treat him and my home with respect. It has been impossible, had one girl who was great with him but it turned out she was telling people that he was hers and that she kept him at livery with me. Bit odd but I overlooked that one then she actually told someone that it was her property! Creepy or what? Found another young girl who was also great with but she found another horse she prefered to ride, in all fairness he's not the easiest horse in the world so can't blame her.

I'm in Crewe, Cheshire, so looking for something anywhere around that area really:)

mmm maybe I'm not going to embarrass myself quite as much as thought looking for horses.

To be honest when I was considering sharing I would have been willing to pay a percentage of the cost of keeping the horse equivalent to the time spent riding it as you can walk away from the commitment at any time.

Crewe to Sandbach (about 10mins) is to far? ... No wonder your're struggling to find a share horse!! :)

Have you looked on Cheshire horse network?
