Was quite happy with my Racesafe body protector which was fitted to me by my local shop. Until I fell off that is, it offered no protection to my lower rib at all and could have made it worse as sitting half over the rib making a hard edge.
A few weeks later the pain as almost gone but now I think a new jacket is needed. Your thoughts please. 2nd photo from the Racesafe fitting video

I don't know much about fitting but i just had a racesafe fitted to me and I tried on lots of different types of lengths and sizes to show and get a feel of what did and didn't fit.
I would say that doesn't fit your chest as the bottom of your rib cage looks very exposed.

It should sit 25mm below your ribcage. I can't tell where your ribcage ends from the photo, but that's the best practice advice from BETA.

From looking at your picture My first thought is that it’s too short in the body, but that’s from a picture, I don’t know where your rib cage etc ends.

The only way to tell - as others have said - is to feel for your ribcage. The BP should extend fractionally - Rachael says 25mm and I'm sure they are correct, I would say about 2 fingers width, beyond the end of your rib cage.

Is there any chance you could have put weight on since fitted?

Mine's sitting too high at the moment as I've chunked up a little but it used to fit perfectly.

I would agree it looks pretty short on the body. I'd take it back and see if you can get a different person to 'fit' it for a second opinion.

It doesn’t look like it does, it’s hard to tell from a photo at one angle but it looks to be too short in length. I used to fit them but it was a few years ago now!

The bottom black Triangle bits of material make it look longer than it is so only half on my bottom rib, I have not put any weight on if anything lost a little up top, will have to accept it is too short and buy another.
Annoying was at the shop yesterday and another fitter there picked out the same jacket when I asked to be sized. The main thing for her was that there was a three finger spacing between saddle and rear blocks. I tried the longer size on and sitting straight up we had a one finger gap so to me its Ok . I said this is a much better fit but was told it was dangerous to have such a small gap.
I did not ask her to tell me how it was dangerous or the mechanism of such a failure because she would have not been able to

Having just been trained to fit body protectors I’d say from the photos it’s far too short unfortunately.

Yes very annoying and three weeks of discomfort because of it, not a cheap item to buy but I should get something back selling it 2nd hand.
They are still selling people the wrong sizes now which is a worry

Personally, I wouldn't sell on a body protector I'd fallen off in and had taken a few weeks to recover from - you just don't know what damage has been done to the protective materials.

It's annoying, but I'd chalk it up to experience and bin the body protector.

Racesafe will make custom sizes if you don't fit in to their standard - I had a custom back length on mine. Was measured at an event by Treehouse who kept my details on record until I was ready to order.

Some good news after posting a review of the shop and fitting service they called me in for another fitting, this time I ended up with a protector that looks the same as the Racesafe picture. And after a year and Eight months did not charge me either. Still would rather not have had six weeks of rib pain but I am happy now.
