my friend has been lookingfor a supersafe but forward going horse between 14-15hh for her daughter, she has been let down by quite a few sellers and looked at a few that have failed the vetting, she is starting to get dispondant,
she already has a horse which she was badly advised to buy (novice rider 3yomare) so her budget is limited (£3000) if anyone knows of anything suitable in the tyne &wear co. durham area could you let me know pm or post

This will sound boring or unhelpful, but don't go horse-shopping for that elusive horse. I did that - it was a mistake!

Advise your daughter and her daughter to go to riding schools, make friends with people with horses, go on riding holidays within the country etc. Find any way to meet new horses, and don't do it with a view to buy. Wait. She should meet horses she loves riding. Keep waiting. Then, she will find a horse that is totally perfect. It might not be what anyone ever thought, and it might have some serious flaws, but they will be ones she can live with. If she cries at the thought of leaving this horse she should make an offer.

Trust me, I didn't do this, and bought an ok horse that I just didn't click with. I have had him for 7 years and have not really, really loved any of it. I met an ex-racehorse, with some behavioural issues, but it made me feel more comfortable than my pony. I dithered about selling my pony and buying the race horse - he trusted me, because he normally bucked other people, but not me, and I'm not a great rider, I just ride with a very light contact. We were a good team, but someone else bought him, and he bucked them for months.

It sounds dumb, but wait for the horse that trusts you and that you love. You never know when it will come, and if you buy a horse that's not completely right, then meet your dream horse, you will regret it forever. Fairytales could come true if you let them! I am heartbroken over the ex-race horse, it's been 8 months, and just writing this makes me cry!
