Does this really work?

It'd better for that price!! There was a thread on these a while back and some people said they did work and others pah pahed them.
I've never used one. Can you not just attach fridge magnets to your browband/headpiece?

I guess it works the same as other magnetic products (rugs/boots)... apparently it doesn't matter where the magnet is on the body - it increases circulation all over. Personally I wouldn't want to put one on my horses head - i'll stick with the boots

Magnets do work, not good with describing the physics, but basically it is said they realign particles in liquids and gases, so in theory blood and fluids in the horse's head should work more efficiently. This is the bit I struggle with, I can understand increasing and improving circulation to an injury site - but why the poll?

i also know of people who have started to wear magnets who have suffered headaches and vomiting..apparently they can have quite a dramatic effect..

Nope! Biggest con ever!

If someone could please explain to me the science behind this I would love to hear it!

Like running a magnet through a pile of paperclips..... no wait, that would just cause them to clump!

Ive used magnetic therapy for years on my horses and on myself. As The_watcher mentioned, I originally bought a bracelet after suffering with annoying tension headaches on an almost daily basis. It took about a week for the effects to kick in but cleared up the headaches quite effectively and that was about 5 years ago - i still wear it today

The horse has a magnetic rug and stable wraps and they basically work by increasing circulation. While that doesnt *sound* anything impressive, increased circulation helps the body to heal itself, aids horses that suffer with puffy legs from being stood in and can help with the side effects of conditions like arthritis.

In terms of a poll guard - Im slightly confused by that too. I can understand their claim of "helps older, stiffer horses" - that makes sense but Im not sure on why it would calm exciteable horses or help then stay soft in their mouths.

I wouldnt be convinced about all the claims they're making there - even as a huge fan of magnotherapy. But thats just my opinion
