Old retired horse, in good health but coat like a yak which he has shed from the top down to the tops of his legs and belly. It’s so thin over his back the pink skin (skewbald) is completely visible. I would like to find something like the summer shower rugs with a waterproof back and mesh below the rain line, but with about 50g fill over the back, does this exist? I find no fill rugs are either not waterproof and/or horse is cold, a 50g turn out makes him sweat.

Just a thought, but do you have a no fill turnout that will take liners? If so you could get a 50g liner and have the sides shortened, or do it yourself if you have a sewing machine.

May not be precisely what you are after but a friend of mine has a 200g Amigo Mio rug for hers - it seems that the fill actually stops around half way down the sides of the horse and then it is just the outer with no fill. I know Mio is the cheapest of the amigo ranges so this is probably why. What turned out as a bit of an issue for her may be what you're looking for? they definitely do 50g weights too. Probably worth a look at one in person though before buying.

I really rate this rug, it's brilliant.
