Ok to keep a long story short a friend of mine that has only been riding for approx 6 months had been brought a andulusian stallion by her OH, got it shipped over from spain to a yard where she kept it on full livery. About 5 weeks of having it the yard owner and rider said its not the right horse for her and that she should send it back and get something else, she has done this the the new one arrives next week I think.
In the mean while she has just brought another andulusian stallion from the yard owner she has paid for it already (30k), but needed it vetted to insure it, anyway vet came out and it failed on a few points wingalls in its fetlocks, hocks and stifles, and it has got a condition in one of its eyes that means there is a posiblity that it could go blind. It also has only got 1 testical the other was removed dont know why but the lady told my friend it had something to do with colic????
Anyway my friend was all up for asking for her money back but after a long chat with yard owner she wants a second opinon, the yard owner has arranged for a vet friend of hers to do this today. My friend wanted me to go with her for a bit of moral support but the lady phoned her up at the last minute and said she was'nt happy with me coming as a vetting is supposed to be a private affair. To keep the peace I said I would'nt go.
This woman did'nt tell my friend when she brought him that he only had 1 testical and she didnt say anything about any operations she only found this out in the vetting the other day, my friend is very sweet and really trys to see the best in everyone im just really worried that she is being had and that the lady will talk her into keeping him even if she really does'nt want to, she spends a lot of money on livery at this ladys place in all she will have 3 horses there next week and she will be spending £475 a week.
What are your views on this??? I have told her she should'nt get a stallion as they are not right for a novice rider and owner and she really regrets not having the horse vetted before buying him...

Buyer beware.
She should have had the horse vetted, crazy not to if you're talking crazy money like that. Sounds like the YO has got a good deal and maybe been a little sparing with the truth but it's hard to have any legal comeback in situations like this.

from what you've said sounds like YO spotted your friend coming a mile off and is making as much money out of her as she can.
Sorry but that is defintily the way it reads.

I have told her this already but she does'nt want to leave yard because she gets lessons of a big dressage rider!!!
She was looking for yards and had a look at a few I told her if she brought anywhere I would help her out but she is'nt ready to take the plunge I dont know what else to suggest to her but she really is being had.

Oh dear, it seems that someone, somewhere has their eye on this lady's fat wallet and it seems to be opening rather than shutting.

I would be a friend and try and get her to see some sense, spend good money on herself, going on intensive training courses to learn about horses and to improve her riding, before spending big money on horses and having to be reliant on other people (who may be mis-directing her for the wrong reasons).

Hopefully she can afford to absorb the loss if she can afford £30k for a horse and not get it vetted. Her best bet is to either sue the YO and leave the yard (plenty of decent dressage instructors who are happy to work for big bucks). Alternatively sell the horse and move out of the yard. Whatever she does, she really ought to consider leaving. The YO must be deleriously happy having sold a £30k one balled stallion, and having THREE horses on livery for someone who sounds like they don't even ride. And this cr*p about the "friend" vet wanting to make it private. FFS! Who is paying for the vetting and who the hell OWNS the horse!

Geewhizz, this is madness. More money than sense springs to mind here.
£30k for a stallion for a novice rider - totally idiocy.
Clearly your friend is being taken advantage of and you'd be best trying to steer here clear of this YO.

My thoughts exactly, just spoke to her and she is keeping him, vet has really reasured her apparently she is'nt worried about the swellings (windgalls) and she is now being told that her had his other ball removed when he was 3 due to cancer the yard owner told her she must of heard it wrong. The vet said his eye is nothing to worry about there is some changes to it but it does'nt mean he is going to go blind and that all horses his age have it (he's 14).
The yard owner told her she will give her a 1 yrs garantee on him and that the reason she did'nt want anyone else up there is because she does'nt like other people other then liveries up her yard!!!
What a load of bollocks.

I asure you this is real, the other stallion thats coming over from spain is costing 60,000 euros and she has only seen it in a video and photos.

The horse thats coming from spain is coming with 5 stage vetting certificate and x rays, the other she has just had x rays taken, she is'nt the type to lie she is just very gulible bless her.
She brought the one from spain from a lady called Patricia majestic_andulsian.com or something cat b or d cant remember but horse number 2 its big and black lol.

it's all gonna end in tears.... is this how the other half lives? i just cannot believe this post!

well i'm sorry i can't advise, just completely different world to which i'm living in.Must be nice if you have thoses resources to spend and lose
i hope it all works out in the end for your friend

well she is clearly minted if she is so silly with her money so Im sure if it doesnt work out she will just buy another.

Why not pay for some private lessons on a good horse and gain some experience, no point buying a ferarri if you cant drive.

Mad mad mad.Sorry but she has more money than sense.I wish I had a friend like that ,she could sponsor me.Just shows how unfair this world is, why does she want an andulusian stallion, not many do well in competition, pretty but not often what is required in dressage although I know there are exceptions.
I think she will do what she wants to, as she has already done .

This woman is clearly doing it for status or something.

The laughing point is she will probably keep it on DIY!

I dont know why you would spend that much money on a horse - to me it is crazy - even if you want to go to the olympics, no amount of horse can make you look like you can ride if you cant.

Take it from someone who knows their Andys, this person has been DONE!!!!!!!!

I wish Sirena was around as she knows pretty much all the Andys in the UK - a 14year, 1 balled, unpassable Stally priced at 30K!!!! I presume it is a breeding stallion? I presume it is some hidden mega star? But still think she has been totally done.

And HOW many times do people have to continue getting done buying Spanish horses off websites??? Most of these companies are LTAO at foreigners!

Her money, her life at the end of the day, but really, some people have NO sense!
